On my smt5600 I could customize the sounds when SMS or MMS messages were received. Is it possible to do the same on the 8125. I tried putting them in the same directory as for my 5600 but it no worky.

Put them in the Windows\Rings folder on the phone. Then when you go to Start\Settings\Sounds and Notifications you should be able to set them as the sound for a new SMS message.

I've tried that and they show up and are able to use as ring tones but not as txt messaging.

I got it figured out. Place the .wav file in the windows file and they'll show up then.

I use Audacity. It will import a mp3, then you can clip it, make it louder, edit it, etc. and output it as a wav file.
