I am using the WM2003 rom “4.20.0 Build 13349” and every time I receive an incoming call the phone plays the ringtone as if it were set to “Increasing Ring” under the editing options for whichever profile I have selected.

This happens ALL THE TIME no matter which profile I have selected, and even if I change the ring type from “Ring” to “Ring Once” or “Vibrate and Ring”. I have tried raising and lowering the ring volume selections, but it still does it. It doesn't matter what format the ringtone is in, MIDI, WAV, or WMA. Or the size & location of the file. I've tried saving the ringtones to the phone and/or the SD card. My main ringtone that I normally use all the time is just a 28.6kb wav file. I have tried the default tones that are in the rom of the phone. I have hard reset the phone and even re-installed the ROM. I do not want to downgrade back to 2002. I was hoping there might be a registry tweak or other simple fix.

I know I posted this before, however I could not find the topic.

I have tried as many ways as I can think of to try and find a way to edit the rom .img file with NO success. Hours and hours of searching on google, Forget AT&T, Motorola is of little help (big surprise), I have even tried Chi Mei systems. I'm not sure exactly which way to go on this. I have not been able to convert it to any other type of readable file, nor open it like any type of data image file. Since it seems that the guy who released the German 2k3 rom knows how to edit them that maybe someone else knows how. Even just some hints would be nice, does it take some type of proprietary software or can it be converted and re-written to a rom image? Please don't say you have to use a hex editor for the whole thing replacing each file piece by piece!? Thanks a bunch guys.

Nope, I checked the profile and did a hard reset. It functions exactly like the increasing ring setting only it is set to ring only. This thing is almost becoming too much trouble. Anyone know how to buy direct from Taiwan? One of those Mio 8390's is looking better and better.

I was just giving you a hard time. Trust me if there was a way to do it right now I would be the first to try it.

Every time my phone rings no matter what the ringtone is, it always ascends. By the time I hear it I have missed the call, I've checked everything I can. It does it on all profiles "except silent of course", and I have checked my profile settings and all are set to Loud. Motorola couldn't offer any viable fixes, and it seems that I know more about this phone than the people over at AT&T CS! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sure, I don't see why not. By the way, if you could custom code all of the software do you think you could program a toaster to fly me to mars?

In realistic terms "NO". But it is possible, you would just need to be able to dump the bootloader ROM and then rewrite it to whatever specs the new OS would require. Then write the custom drivers for it. Oh yeah the kernal would have to be able to use the ARM processor. Not to mention all the quirks and bugs it would have. I wish it were easier. If you can get a hold of some super coders you might be able to get it done.

Hello, I have not seen anything about the possibility of cracking the generic firmware so that we could extract what we need to be able to upgrade the MMS capability on an AT&T MPx200. And other things like the camera drivers ect... I would appreciate any help on this, thanks.
