Janak Parekh, from PocketPCThoughts.com makes another appearance on SmartphoneThoughts.com and has posted an appetite whetting review of the next T-Mobile Windows Smartphone due for release on 10/25:

Conclusions
My two gripes aside, I really, really like this device. If I was living in good T-Mobile coverage, I'd be sorely tempted to switch. It's not necessarily the flashiest or most insanely powerful Windows Mobile device on the market, but it matches an excellent feature set with a fantastic form factor. The unit fits so comfortably in your hand, the screen is to die for, the thumbboard is solid, the unit's WiFi works seamlessly, and the device just feels well-executed from start to finish. Alas, I'm going back to my brick of a 700w and its correspondingly expensive Verizon service. I'd never have called it a brick before now, but that just goes to show you what a svelte little Smartphone the Dash is. If you walk past a T-Mobile store starting on October 25, do me a favor -- walk in, hold it in your hand for a few seconds, and let me know what you think. I think you'll have the exact same response I did.

anyone know how fast it is compared to the treo 700w... i know the treo700w has a bigger processor...

the review mentioned that its pretty fast.. Is it faster then 2125/3125/mda/sda/?? that is the only thing i hate about the current smartphone except 700w..

Well, janak wasn't able to use it on the T-Mo network, but judging that it has the latest version of the OS I would expect improved performance to the SDA/2125.

Everything I've read makes statements like "The most responsive WM5 Smartphone ever" though I have no idea if it's just someone making random remarks. I imagine the complete quote should be something more like "It's the most responsive WM5 Smartphone ever...with a TI OMAP 850 200 Mhz CPU"

The biggest problem with the Treo 700w? It's currently CDMA only. Second biggest? The 240x240 screen. Third? No Wi-fi.

You have to remember too, that the Treo 700w is a Pocket PC phone, not a Smartphone like the Dash. That makes Palm's/Verizon's decision to leave Wifi out that much more of a stupid idea. I could almost understand leaving Wifi out of a Smartphone, but a Pocket PC?

I'm sure it won't take them long. The Treo 750v released just a couple weeks ago is already available on thier site. It should only be a matter of time after it's release until they can do it.
