wacko.gif I have a smt5600 that I have been using for over a year. I have not made any modifications to the phone other than it is unlocked and using the Cingular gprs settings. Last night I turned off the phone and plugged it up to my computer to charge. The small light turned amber as it usually doses to show it is connected and charging. This morning I get up and the light has turned green to show a full charge. I disconnect the phone from my computer and try to power it on and nothing happens! I tried several times with nothing happening. I removed the battery and the sim card for about an hour, put it all back in and tried to power on again still nothing! So I decided to do a hard reset, the phone will not reset, nothing happens even after several attempts. I plug the phone back into the computer, light comes on green showing I full charge. I tried powering on while connected to the computer and still nothing! HELP, what is up with my phone? Is it gone? HELP!

Thanks!

Well, that isn't encouraging. The first two things I would suggest, taking the battery out and trying to hard reset, you've already tried. You could try leaving the battery out for a day or two. You could also find a SMT5600 ROM (they are floating around) and try flashing the phone and seeing if that revives it.

I thought the phone had to be powerd on to flash a rom. Any Ideas on what would have made this happen?

No, it doesn't have to be turned on. What happens if you press and hold the camera button and plug it into your PC while holding it? If nothing comes up, you can't flash the ROM. Don't know what could have caused it, sorry.

If I hold the camera button while pluging in I get a rainbow screen

If you can get that (the bootloader screen) you should be able to flash the ROM. You just need to find it. It should come with instructions on how to flash it included with the ROM. Good luck, let us know what happens.

The rainbow screen is the bootloader screen. That is a good sign. I would flash a ROM. Just follow the directions that come with the loader.

There is alot of good info over at our friends http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=589. You will need to register to get into the forums I think?

Was your phone using the ATT ROM before?

yes and I was able to find the cingular WM03se .img file but there were no instructions on how to use it.

I also found the WM5 .bin files but according to the directions for it there are things that have to be done with the phone on through active sync. but my problem is the phone will not power on.
