I would speculate around September. I think I read somewhere that Cingular was looking at the Star Trek -- also the Hermes, which is an upgrade to the Cingular 8125 device and adds a jogwheel.

The French Site Mobinaute has done the most detailed review of the Star Trek I have seen yet. It takes a second or two to load as Google translates the site to English. Check the Review out Here.

You can get them on ebay, also from US sellers.

Its nice enough but i think Qtek S200 is a better device.

S200 looks to be quite nice...except it's neither a SmartPhone (it's a PPC) or a flipper (it looks like a PDA). I don't think the two can really be compared since they're aimed at two different markets and therfore two dfferent types of users. While I may envy some of the S200's features, I distinctly do not like it's form factor...at all.

Glad to see the Star Trek Qtek 8500 is available in black (as well as that reddish/pinkish color) and that the design team dropped those extra circles that were originally shown on the keypad. I think the production model is a better looking phone than some of the early photos we saw.

Still axiously awaiting user opinions to start showing up around here!!!

I think I will be picking one of these up when I swing into a certain SoutEast Asian port in the coming months. I will play with it as much as possible (with no connectivity), and should be able to do a review within a few weeks of my return. By that time they should be up for release in the states, but we will have to see on that one.

I just read some reviews (including pre-production...so, some things might change) and am feeling let down.

non-standard usb connector coupled with a non-standard audio output
Unless the provided stereo headset is fantastic (what are the chances of that?), still won't be able to simply take along one headset without an adapter...no gain over my MPx220 sad.gif (Clearly lots of other gains over MPx220. I'm just talkin' 'bout audio features here) I sure hope there is a good BlueTooth stereo headset on the horizon that is smaller than what's available right now (read discreet ear bud type as opposed to over the ear/behind the neck style).

Since charging and audio output are paired into one connector there will be no charging while listening via wired headset (usually better quality). From what I read it's got a smaller mAH battery...this may spell trouble FOR ME since I use my phone to listen to and read a lot throughout the day.

front media buttons work wMP10 only
This blows if true! mad.gif TCPMP is soooooooo much better IMHO. Actually, I'd be in the same boat as I am now since 220 doesn't have external audio controls. So, no gain...but no loss either. Yet, it feels like a loss since the "promise" may not pan out.

And, of course, no wi-fi...which may or may not matter depending on each person's own usage habits. To me, right now, this is a let down. But, what do I know? I've never used anything other than GPRS on an MPx200 and 220.

Right now, I'm feeling that empty hollow nag of disappointment. dry.gif

I'm sure getting back to the larger screen like my old 200 would perk me right up though! laugh.gif
