Unlocked my cingular SMT5600 and this process works like a charm...
This is what i did
ran aeconfig and mine was already app unlocked
ran resetsecurity
ran the cert.cab from the phone(it comes with the unlock tools zip)
ran the spvservices.exe and hit agree and TADA the phone is unlocked. (i think a restart is needed since once i unlocked my sdcard didnt work... (IMG:http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) )
restart fixed it...
tested with tmo sim and works like a charm... Thanks to all the people involved in creating this tool and people who took time to tell everyone how they did it...

2 questions:

1. regarding resetsecurity, is this the resetsecurity.exe or the resetsecurity.xml with rapiconfig?

2. can you run spv-services on a 5600 connected via bluetooth, or must this be USB?

All,

1. I used resetsecurity.exe, works fine on the phone.
2. Yes, must be USB. SPV services wouldn't work over bluetooth (for me).

Final result: 1 more unlocked SMT5600 (for free) (IMG:http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Tested with a T-Mo SIM just now.

Has anyone "unlocked" an AT&T branded STM 5600 using this?

The "beta" product that was put out several months ago, didnt work with the STM 5600. Thanks.

I have read several reports of people unlocking AT&T SMT5600s. I'm not sure what has changed since the initial release, but some part of the process for the SMT is different than it was for the C500 I believe. It will now work.

The instructions worked on my AT&T-issued SMT5600...and I tested it with a T-Mo sim from work after reboot. No issues - phone found the T-mobile network w/o any issues.

AT&T Branded STM 5600 unlocked beautifully. Now I can switch over the Cingular and "Rollover" without getting a new (ie, expensive) phone.

I'm soon getting a Cingular SMT5600 and I was wonding,
will I have to have a singular sim in order to et the phone to boot up and be able to unlock it , or could the menus still be accessible without any sim card present in the device.
also I would REALLY appreciate it if anyone was kind enough to send me all the files I need for this to my email: vette555@yahoo.com

thanks,

Amiroquai

Hold the two keys, but not the power button. Press and hold the softkeys, but press and release the power button...

Ok, getting a little off topic, but...

To get your phone to appear to be a Cingular phone, check this thread.
Cingular Rebranding CAB Available...

To get rid of the mMode icon, open the phones builtin file explorer, goto Storage>windows>Start Menu, then highlight mMode, hit menu>properties, and check the hidden box. Presss OK/Save (?) and on the next restart you won't see mMode in the start menu.

Now we return you back to the topic of Free unlocking your SMT5600 (IMG:http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) (IMG:http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
