Well, I got the OTA sync part to work, and as long as I set it to sync every 5 minutes it works great but if I set it to sync as new items are available then I get an error saving the configuration on the sync and it wont work.

I noticed as I followed the instructions in the first post this section here is where my phone stops following the instructions
QUOTE
Once you have done this, then the phone will want to know what your mobile SMS address is.

Hit MENU -> Options -> 3.Server Settings -> 4.Connection
You will need to SCROLL DOWN through all the settings.
You will see some NEW options at the bottom of the list.
Address device using: SMTP Address
Service Provider name: TMobile (it pulled this from the server)
Device Phone number: wxxxyyyzzzz (it should auto-fill this for you)
Text Message address: wxxxyyyzzzz@tmomail.net

My phone asks for the sms address in the previous step not this one, and I have no option for the service provider name or device phone number, just the text message address...

So I am sure this is why it doesnt work, but does anyone know how to get around this?

Did you ever find a way around this?  I'm deal ing w/ a similar issue where I can synch OTA and via USB (without having to reset phone power) when I'm at home connected via DSL to the internet.  However, when I go behind out corporate firewall, still using the same address that's accessible via internet: outlook.company.com I get issues.  When I finally manage to get the phone to synch via USB behind the firewall to the mail server, I then remove from USB to sync over-the-air and it can't find the server.  A nightmare.
Well, this isnt really the same problem. I was unable to surf the internet via active sync passthrough when behind a firewall at work. but to answer your question, no I never found a way to do it.

Instead of getting a PPC Phone. (H8!) I would like to be able to use the modem of my MPx200 to allow my PDA to connect via GPRS like my laptop does. However there are very very few PDA's with a USB host port (and I am not sure it would work anyway) Does anyone have any idea if there is a BT SDIO card that works in the Mpx200 and can you use that to connect to a bluetooth enabled PDA for GPRS?

The PPC I was looking at is the new Dell X30 which is BT and WiFi but does not have USB host (as far as I can tell).

How about a cable maybe? do any PDA companies have a cable that would connect to a MPx200?

I know I could use Ir, but that would ruin any advantage to being mobile as I would have to balance the MPx200 and the PDA so they point at each other and now dont have any hands free to tap or write.

I really dont want to spend $900.00 on a Imate or a XDA II (or III for that matter) The MPX is going to be that much and I think the screen is still smaller then a PPC, and the MPx220 (though it has BT) is from the comments I have read on MGN) only slightly (and arguably) better then the MPx200.

Any suggestions anyone?

Passthru may not always work on computers that are behind strict firewalls. It is like trying to plug in a personal PC or laptop into a secure network. Depending on the firewall settings it just won't work. Hope this helps clear somethings up...

Yes, actually your exactly right Thanks Gryph0n. I took it home at lunch time and tried it there (never had a reason to before) and it worked fine. It must have something to do with our firewall (which is pretty strict) I am going to keep trying things, but I dont hold any hope of making it work, well at least not without bribing our firewall consultant to open it up smile.gif

I have to agree with Tedya, Though the listed "Bars" are lower on my MPx200 then they were on my Nokia 6610. I find I can complete calls in all the same locations I could with the Nokia. In fact in a number of locations with 2 bars on the nokia I had horrible calls that faded in and out in that way that digital calls do, but I can make calls on my MPx200 in the same location with no bars and not get the drop out. I think though the MPx200 might not have quite as good a reception as other phones I think there is also a more accurate reporting of true signal strength with the MPx200 then on other phones. I noticed something like this when I upgraded my PPC phone to windows mobile 2003. I didnt change the radio stack nor any hardware but the displayed signal strength took a nose dive after the upgrade. Calls and data were exactly the same but the "Bars" shown were less. I wouldnt doubt that some phones are given higher readings at lower levels to make them SEEM to be much better phones then whatever you had before.

Just my opinion, but in the couple weeks I have had my MPx on TMO I have not missed my Nokia.

Ok, I have been pounding my head against this MS wall for about an hour now.

How do you use ActiveSync Passthrough for pocketIE on the MPx200? I know your thinking why would you bother, your at a computer just use it. Well I want to test some phone based web stuff I am doing and I am in a location where there is no coverage (basment of a building, which is bad enough, but worse yet, the basement was built as a bomb shelter so nuttin gets in or out...) I have tried every combination I can think of in settings for connections and the AS passthrough options under rules in AS. Has anyone made this work?

There was a thread in general about pass-through but the solutions they have come up with dont work in my case.

In the past I was able to make AvantGo work (on a ppc not a smartphone), however it has its own proxy settings and I had to use them for it to connect. Perhaps thats the problem? Should I have to create manual proxy connections in the settings->data connections->menu->edit connections->proxy?

Who ever took pity on my plight I thank you. Of course, I screwed it up. I opened my browser first and turned off my pop up blocker, however when you go to a different site it turns back on automaticly. so of course it got blocked. I understand the issue of bandwidth (and time of course)and I am not asking for it again. just wanted to thank who ever tried to help me.

Upgraded to 2003 or "Upgraded" with 2002 Firmware?
oh, sorry (see I said I was stupid biggrin.gif ) Upgraded with 2002 firmware, non-ATT supossedly with 900 open (however I am thousands of miles from a 900 tower so I dont care about that) . I was under the impression that the 2003 was a dream or some such thing and not actually available. If 2003 is available and stable I would use that. I really just want whatever functionality should be there and for it to not lock up and crash all the time. 2003 would just be a nice bonus.

Just bought a upgraded mpx200 (stupid stupid stupid) and its a bit unstable.
I was wondering if there is a good stable firmware upgrade. It doesn't have to be the most recent, though if it is all the better. You can contact me at tobiasj@wowway.com

Thanks for your time.
