hi guys, my mpx220 (ver.: 0.342) havent been able to access the internet (WAP settings) for the past two days. I'm on T-MO on their 4.99 T-Zones plan. Can someone verify if this is the latest connection settings that are work-able? It has always worked since I purchased it in Oct.

These are my settings:

GPRS CONNECTIONS:
Description: T-Mobile WAP
Connects to: The Internet
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
User Name:
Password:

Primary DNS: 216.155.165.050
Secondary DNS: 216.155.165.051

PROXY CONNECTIONS:
Description:T-Mobile Proxy
Connects From: The Internet
Connects To: WAP Network
Proxy (name port): 216.155.165.50
Type: WAP
User name:
Password:

Settings-Data Connections:
Internet Connection: T-Mobile WAP
WAP Connection: T-Mobile WAP

INTERNET EXPLORER > MENU > OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS:
Tick 'automatically Detect Settings'
Select network: The Internet

MMS: (Start>MMS Settings>Then edit the connection)

Name: T Mobile MMS
MMSC URL: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
WAP Gateway: 216.155.165.050
Port: 9201

I called T-Mo csr and they told me that this phone isn't a regular mobile phone and this pda needs the Internet plan ($19.99) to be able to access the internet (www.__.com) I told him that I was able to access it before, and he told me that I was just luck out, now their firewall recognized my phone is indeed a pda, so he claims that is the reason why it is shut off.

Can someone help me please? Thank you.

i had the exact same problem and ended up swapping phones...that didin't fix it. T-Mo's Tier 3 support suggested change the primary and secondary DNS settings 0.0.0.0 (for both), rebooted the phone and it connected right away...GPRS issues. hope it works for you... fyi, i'm on the 19.99 plan and it stopped working on that plan before i made the above change.

I suggest you avoid using the proxy server. Just set up a GPRS Connection for access point wap.voicestream.com, use the same DNS IP (216.155.165.50) and that's it and say Connect to the Internet. By adding a proxy, your adding one more step in your connection which is more likely to give you trouble, especially considering this isn't a T-mobile supported phone. The only problem with avoiding the proxy is you won't be able to get to the T-Zones home page, which I have no desire to do, but some might......

Actually it is so simple. We have all been using more settings than we need. Make a new GPRS connection:

Description: TMobile GPRS
Connects to: The Internet
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com, internet2.voicestream.com or internet3.voicestream.com (Use only ONE of these. Might have to try them all)
Username: <leave blank>
Password: <leave blank>
Primary DNS: <leave blank>
Secondary DNS: <leave blank>
IP address: <leave blank>

You do not need a proxy, or any other settings configured. This one GPRS connection is all you need. Then set all of your connections to AUTOMATIC and you should be good to go.

Don't want to cause a stir, but I am seeing some rumors that T-Zones may no longer work on Smartphones and PDA's in certain areas (if this is true it won't be long before it is this way in all areas). I read a post elsewhere (can't remember) that someone spoke with teir 3 support and they claimed that the firewall can now detect such devices and the Unlimited data plan ($19.99) are now required for PDA and like gadgets.

Again I stress these are only rumors that I have been seeing, I use the Unlimited as it is so I can not confirm. I recommend calling T-Mobile and checking to make sure it isn't something on their end, or if they can work you through it.

If these rumors turn out to be true, T-mobile will see me leave for Cingular when my contract is up next year. The only reason I am with T-Mobile is because of their great data plan. It certainly is not for their reception. Their voice plans aren't as good as Cingular's either.

Does anyone have an idea of how to confirm that the $19.99 plan is REQUIRED for internet access with the MPx220?

I have the $4.99 T-Zones plan and it was working perfectly up until a few days ago, I've tried all the suggestions listed here and nothing seems to work.

If this change is true, I will either cancel my $4.99 T-Zones and wait until my contract expires and then figure out what my options are, or maybe someone will figure out a way to 'trick' the T-Mobile firewalls into beliveing the phone is a V600 or some other supported phone. There's got to be a registry setting or some way to allow this to continue to work.

Thansk,
Eric

If you leave for Cingular just know that the unlimited data plan with them is 80/month while TMobiles is only 20/month.

I did a search of the registry and I found this key...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings5.0User Agent]
@="MOT-MPx220/0.342 Mozilla/4.0"
"Compatible"="compatible"
"Platform"="Windows CE"
"UA-Language"="JavaScript"
"Version"="MSIE 6.0"

Maybe someone can figure out the information that a phone like the Motorola V600 sends and we can plug that information in here and make the internet work....?

$80 is for laptops. The unlimited plan for phones is 19.99 and with that comes 1500 SMS and 200 MMS.

I've noticed it here too (Tacoma, WA) but I've still got email...very strange. I've tried every combination with no success; hopefully someone will figure it out (I don't want to use the 19.99/month plan).

FYI: Allot of people are talking about this. It seems pretty clear that tmo is blocking port 80 (there is some speculation on how they are blocking port 80 since WAP uses the same port).

Yup...just blocked me, Im in NYC. I can still POP but as of today, can't browse the web with IE. Has anyone found a solution besides upgrading to the 20 bucks a month plan? I am not paying an extra 15 bucks a month for it. At least I have POP (for now).

Am having trouble in So Cal as well (9.99 plan). On a side note, TMo's OTA configurator has now listed MPx220 as a supported handset, strange!!

Cortez, are you on the 4.99 plan? If so, can you post the exact settings your using off that site. I never had a proxy before, not sure how to set it up.

Sclui56, I tried that site, and never got it working as I never received anything from T-mobile. Did it work for you?
