I'm happy to report that I have a Garmin GPS10 operating over Bluetooth with Mapopolis on my MPX220.
The registry fix first described in another thread on this site is required: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Bluetooth.Values.IsBthVCOMActive => 1 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Bluetooth.Values.IsBthVCOMSetup => 1
Setting Mapopolis GPS COM Port: COM6 Baud Rate: 38400
I bought the "sensor only" version for $150 - it comes with no software, but to my knowledge Garmin doesn't make Smartphone software anyway.
The sensor itself is pretty solid and supposedly waterproof to some degree. One warning though, the sensor only unit comes with an automotive charge adapter - not a wall plug. At least the 5V@1A plug is fairly common.
I don't have experience with many other GPS recievers, so I can't comment on it's accuracy or reception relative to the competition, but my experience last night playing Frisbee in an open field and driving in a moderately heavy developed area (Boston/Brookline) indicated that this is a realistic option for navigation and recreation.
