I had the "loud" profile in 2002 and it was apparently replaced by the "outdoor" profile in 2003, but it is noticeably less in volume.
Does anybody have any suggestions or fixs?

Did you check the settings in the outdoor profile. Make sure that you have loud selected in the ring volume section.

but still doesn't seem to be as loud as the 2002 loud profile.
I wonder if this was to save battery life which seems to have gotten worse no matter how many hard resets one does.
