Can the annoying Startup/Shutdown sounds be turned off? I installed the new TweakReg program for the smartphone, but despite deleting the .wav's associated with startup/shutdown, the sounds return on the next reboot.
Any thoughts?
(FYI I have an Mpx200)

I know that they can in fact be turned off, but it requires a reg edit, and unfortunitly I am without a phone at the moment so I can't look up the string. However if you manage to find the location in the registry check the strings, they should have a value=1, well set it to 0 and you will have no more start up and shut down sounds. Sorry that I couldn't provide more assistance on this one at this time. Hopefully someone else will be able to shed more light on it. Just thought that I would let you know that it is possible to do...

Thanks for your thoguhts. One follow-up question: how does one edit the registry on a smartphone? Is there a free/shareware program available?

use PHM Registry Editor to do this.
http://www.phm.lu/Products/smartphone/RegEdit/Be very carefull in the rgistry. Use a backup program like Sprite just in case. Try the free trial it is good for 30 days I think. Enough time for you to learn your way around the registry. Go to Goto HKEY_C_UserControlPanelSounds than shutdown and system startup I believe are the place holders.
Be carefull. Just a plug for Sprite - it will restore all the saved Reg settings back the way they where.
