Full Version: A little more on the free wap

So, I've been having issues getting my free wap to work right. It would work for about 20 minutes and then not work for a day or two; (which may just be cause I was messing with the settings).

So I called T-Mobile asking about it, being very honest that I have an unbranded phone not on their network. The customer service lady said that I did have free wap enabled, but she had to have done something, because she asked me to powercycle my phone and that little G sqaure appeared. (The one I've been reading about, and have never seen that I understand is a signal type availability indicator)

Anyway she then popped me to a level three data specialist. He gave me some additional settings, but they didn't work. I then tried the stock settings on our faq here, and boom, I've been on line for about 18 hours, longer then ever before by a fair amount.

Long story short, I am wondering, if on some of the towers at least, you need to have the little G sqaure to make the free wap work. If ya do, I guess call and check if you have free wap. Whatever they do to check it, seems to cycle something in the system.

On a side note, the level 3 guy says that people are not supposed to go anyware except the WAP webpage thru free wap. But he's not gonna raise any flags if people are slipping thru the cracks, he's just gonna sit there and be happy for us.

Once again, T-Mobile and it's customer service rock.

It is true, T-Mobile and their customer service are by far the best I have ever dealt with. As I understand it, you need to have the larger G (not the small one above your signal bars) preset to get a GPRS connection. It tells you one is available. Another way to check if you have Included WAP is on their website, under My Account. It does say that is active on mine.
