For reasons I've not been able to figure out yet, I am unable to sync with my WinXP box at work. I would only be using it for doing fileuploads since I already get my contacts etc.. .via a wireless sync (Exchange server).

This however makes it hard to load new software, updates etc..

I can sync at home.

Is there a way that I can install software by inserting it onto the Storage card instead??

Most software, even if it doesn't include it with the actual download, contains a cab file. For some software it is as simple as just opening the folder you downloaded and copy/pasting the cab to your SD, then executing it on the phone. For other software you'll have to go to the Program Files folder, locate the software folder, and find the cab file in it. To do that you'll have to run the program on your PC to get it to install to the PC. In almost every case you should be able to then find the cab that you can run on the device.

Worked when I copied it to the SD card.

Would be nice to be able to download the file from the net and install it, but that doesn't seem to work.

You can use programs such as Spb Pocket Plus or Spb Airsetup. it'll allow you to download CAB files directly from the internet.

Spb Pocket Plus looks interesting. Didn't see it having over the air download loading though.

I have Total Commander (freeware) installed on my 700w so I can download and extract the cab from many different files. It'll handle zips and some other formats as well.

You can find catalog of Windows Mobile applications in CAB installers here: http://www.handster.com/index_ppc.php

Just copy this file to your storage card and start them on your device to begin installation.
