Averatec AHI - UMPC Alternative - First Look / Rumor
As you may have read, UMPCs are anticipated from a number of vendors. Too big for a pocket, not so much smaller than a Notebook laptop, many analysts think the UMPC will have a hard time finding traction with consumers. In that context, here is a picture of a rumored device from Averatec. Information about this new device was first leaked on the I4U website - before Averatec asked it be removed.

Rumored details on the Averatec AHI include: General version of Windows XP/Tablet Edition - 10/100Mbps Ethernet, 56Kbps modem and integrated 3G mobile phone connectivity - GPS receiver - 5-inch color SXGA (1280 x 1024 pixels) touch-sensitive screen - slide-out QWERTY thumb keypad - Intel Celeron M ultra-low voltage processor - 512MB memory - 30 GB microdrive - Bluetooth - 802.11b/g Wi-Fi - a pair of USB 2.0 ports - 2-MP camera - weight: 700g - size: 18.6 x 9 x 3.3cm.

Is there anything else they can cram into the package?? blink.gif

Rumors are the Averatec AHI will come in multiple configurations priced between €499 and €899 ($606-1,091/£346-623) - and in black or silver. Availability? The end of this year.
