I need to install an additional root certificate on my phone for OTA exchange sync, and WM5 doesn't let me. I get an error "Security permission was insufficient to update your device", which I believe is because it's application locked.
Has anyone had any success doing this?

I've tried every method I could find for previous Windows Mobile generations with no effect.
There was a mention of something called spaddcert.exe that I'm unable to find anywhere, so I'm still at a loss. AFAICT, the only way to really admin certificates is using Exchange and Service Pack 2.

I spent about 3 hours trying to get this done and had NO LUCK! Oh man, there is a problem here... I think that this will probably get fixed or at some point M$ will tell people how to do it but for now, WM5 and a non standard Cert on the server do not mix. As Slacker said, the only way I could get synced to his box was by installing a $$$ cert from Thwart.

Is it a SMT5600 with WM5?

I just tried that process, and even tried signing the .cpf file with the TestCert_Privileged.pfx included with VS 2005 Beta 2. Still no luck, I get a System Text Message saying "The program cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions." Gah. This is a real certification too. It's just not on there for whatever reason. CODE CN = Equifax Secure Global eBusiness CA-1 O = Equifax Secure Inc. C = US

Well, I went ahead and replaced the cert on the exchange server with a cheapy Thawte cert, and everything appears to be working. What a pain.
