What I understand of WM5 on the MPx200, and muchomorek can correct me if I'm wrong, is that is requires more memory than the MPx200 has. Thus, it uses memory from a SD card as part of the Main memory.

This is kinda old news. WM5 was installed on the MPx200s of Microsoft MVP's back in October 2004. Obviously since then phones have been sold on still running the image. The WM5 MPx200 image is not in public circulation and it never will be and those who say the 200 doesnt have enough memory for WM5 are correct. WM5 partially installs to Storage Card.
Before the "wheres the 220 WM5 rom" posts come... there is no WM5 rom for the MPx220 and there wont be.
The only WM5 roms available (illegally) are for the XDA II and the C500 (5600). There are a couple of others about but there's not point in mentioning them as they'll never be released to the public legally or not.

If some super smart person (like @nonymous, who released the WM2003 ROM) could get a hold of one of the MPx200's running WM5, they could probably rip the ROM from the phone and make it distributable. I'm almost certain this is how the MPx200 WM2003 ROM was made.

So in 5.0 is the text anti-aliasing gone? One of the biggest imrovements for me of moving from 2002 to 2003 WM is the anti-aliasing. Makes text much more readable and clear IMO.
I noticed on my brothers MPX220 that he had a slihghtly higher version # of WM 2003, and his anti-aliasing was either gone or somehow turned off.
i poked around on my WM 3.0 mpx 200 and couldn't see any options regarding font anti-aliasing. Anyone have any further info on this?
cheers

I think you are referring to ClearType. I'm not sure about WM5 having it as I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but you can turn it on for the MPx220. For directions on how to edit the registry to turn on cleartype on the MPx220, you can go here. It is about half way down the page.

I'm extremely interested in your review (when you have time that is)! I am curious to know how you got this though: did you purchase the phone with it loaded (like nedge2k suggests) or did you find the ROM image floating around somewhere and load it? Note that I am not asking WHERE you found it specifically, an answer of "internet" would be enough.
The point is that if you give it a good review, I'd like to eventually try it. But if you bought the phone like that then I'll give up hope for a while until someone is able to figure it out.

How did you do Hard Reset with SD/MMC in the phone when you have to take it out during Hard Reset? You have to do HR after installing new WM, don't you?

You don't have to do a hard reset after a ROM flash. It is just recommended to make sure everything is fresh and clean. Nor do you have to take the SD card out when doind a hard reset. In fact, I don't tink I ever have before. It doesn't effect the card at all when the phone does a reset (except perhaps in this case if some of the OS is installed on the card). It will be interesting to read how all the little things work with a WM5 MPx200, like doing a hard reset.
