Microsoft says low-cost Peabody Smartphone is almost ready
Posted Jun 21, 2005, 12:51 PM ET by Peter Rojas

Dude, we’d almost completely forgotten about Peabody, Microsoft’s codename for that ultracheap Windows Mobile-powered Smartphone they’re developing with Flextronics (technically it’s a reference design, but whatevs), but one of the execs leading the project says that it’s close to being ready and that it’s going to run on the full version of Windows Mobile 5.0 (rather than a stripped down version) and be available all over the world, rather than solely in developing nations.

Hopefully this can do for the Smartphone what Dell did for the Pocket PC with their X5. A Smartphone in every home, a chicken in every pot!
