Help me folks,
I am BRAND SPANKIN new to the smartphone world with my ATT SMT 5600. I just unlocked it because everywhere/one has said to do so... NOW comes the dumb questions, with the suggestion of making a sticky about it....

I understand that I can now use SIM cards from other carriers:
1: Where do I get them
2: How do I activate or implement them
3: What else do I need to do to my phone to maximize it's unlock use?
4: What other benefits am I missing / don't know about?

I'm a pilot on the USAF and I got this phone A) Because I'm a geek and I love gadgets and cool.gif because I intend to use it while deployed to several locations in the world (read as Iraq).

Any help would greatly be appreciated, and if I meet anyone in person, you have a round (or few) on me.... as long as I can partake as well!!

Thanks,
Cylon

1. From another carrier usually by signing a contract for service
2. Sign a contract. Then stick the card in the phone.
3. Nothing
4. As far as unlocking goes, nothing. There is nothing magic about it.

I've noticed most people will get a SIM from a local pay-as-you-go carrier when they travel overseas (no contracts).
