there is one setting for all system sounds, which means ALL the clicks you hear as you move thru menus. There's no way to do it just for Inbox. To turn off clicks go to Settings > Sounds > Keypad control set to None. This will take care of the clicks as you move but you may stil receive tones as you open the menu.

thanks for the suggestion, smittyofdhs, but my keypad control is already set to "none" in Settings > Sounds and for some reason Inbox still gives me two distinct clicks when using the menus. any other suggestions, or does anyone else have the same behaviour on their phone? any help is much appreciated!

I just checked and mine is the same way even with clicks turned off. Check your other apps and you'll find it's the same thing. I checked calendar and resco file explorer, both exhibit the same behavior.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a bug, as no where does it say what "system sound" includes.

well, imho, any phone OS should be able to control whether the keypad sounds or not, independent of rings, alerts, and other sounds. this one doesn't. imho, that is a bug with the OS (especially since "keypad control" is a sound option, and does contol the same clicking, but only for certain apps/uses). Further, PocketPC has a similar setting that does work across the board.

well the keypress is being supressed, it's the sound for menu that's not. Maybe they should have another option that's called "menu control" and allow you to turn that off. smile.gif

it sounds like U are all talking about very distinct sounds here none of which are related to the keypad tones... the keypad tones, as controlled in the 'settings', can be switched on or off as has been described here and thus when dialing numbers etc the keys either do or don't sound...

The sound when opening menus IS a system sound however only the volume is controlled in Settings/Profiles menu on the phone... to actually change the sound used when opertaing the menus U need to edit the registry key HKCU/Control Panel/Sounds/MenuCommand and HKCU/Control Panel/Sounds/MenuPopup...

Hope this clears things up and helps out smile.gif

thanks Guest smile.gif imho anything that should be a basic phone function (not to mention things that have been "standard" phone functions on other [otherwise lamer] OS's for years) that requires a registry tweak...well, maybe "bug" is a matter of semantics, but...

does anyone know if MS Smartphone 2003 has a setting that allows changing this without a regedit?

thanks again to smittyofdhs and Guest for their input and help!
