Digitimes: Nokia has launched its first Symbian Anna-based smartphone, the X7, in the Taiwan market with a suggested retail price of NT$15,800 (US$547). The X7 comes with a 4-inch touchscreen and an 8-megapixel full-size focus camera, and supports multiple social community networks, according to company data. Nokia will continue to launch Symbian-based smartphones, with shipments to total over 150 million units in the next few years, according to Michael Hsu, general manager of Nokia Taiwan. Nokia's plan to launch its first Windows Phone 7-based smartphone before the end of 2011 remains unchanged, Hsu stated.
Nokia is also cooperating with Microsoft to assist software developers in Taiwan to develop applications based on Symbian and Windows Phone 7, said Hsu, indicating the next 3-5 months will be a crucial period for the establishment of the Symbina-Windows Phone 7 ecosystem.Read more at DigiTimes
