Dropped my MPX200 in the bath today. Don't ask how! Screen doesn't light up and the phone vibrates without being switched on. Motorola's local Level 3 support thinks that the phone is a write off. Has anyone any suggestions or been able to recover from such a drowning? TIA, JK

I have salvaged devices before but it did require that it be totally disassembled, dried throughly, and reassembled after dry. You then have to keep your fingers crossed that something did not short when it hit the water. I would say that the odds are small that you would het it back to working 100 percent. But if you have the time it's worth a shot.

I dropped my old star tac in the toilet...threw it in a drawer and got another. Couple of months later I was cleaning out that drawer, found the star tac and it worked like new (gave it to the wife, LOL)

My last cell phone accidently found its way into the wash.... I disassembled it as much as I could and put it in a food dehydrator for 8 hours....good as new.

yea i say just let it be for a day or so to let it dry out completely and then give it a try. i think there was a member here that dropped his phone into a puddle of water or something and after a day or so it worked like nothing had happened. goodluck with that.

The best thing to do would be to let it dry, open it up and disassemble it completely, and scrub it clean with rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol will remove the minor rusts that form, which ends up being the cause for shorting out circuit boards...

Just my 2 cents (Used work for a pager store repairing pagers.)

My phone was in a coat pocket which i was wearing in the rain for about 6 hours. As far as i can tell everything still works, except the color is off. I'm not a fan of taking apart my phone since i can never put anything back together when i take it apart tongue.gif Is there any way to fix this?
