I am sure some of you have read about the mysterious Cingular 3025 over on
MSMobiles.com, and the various places it has been "reposted". Well I have been sitting on something for sometime now (not willingly but out of a respectful request from a source). My source after seeing all of these "rumors" has given me permission to post what "I" know about this subject.
Firstly, it is going to be the Cingular 3125 (reported Cingular 3120 non-camera version). Now I can not confirm nor deny that Cingular has already discontinued the 2125, but it wouldn't surprise me since that seems to be the trend to replace one smartphone with another instead of providing a variety.
Now I can confirm the "soon" part. My sources indicate from "rumors" that the projected release date for the Cingular 3125 will be the 12th of September (hey, that is right around the corner). Now there are no guarantees on that exact date, but that is a pretty good ballpark to start with. I would say that for those of you holding out for the Cingular version of the Star Trek (i-mate Smartflip, Qtek 8500, or Dopod s300) then you may want to keep holding off just a little bit longer. I did notice months ago when I got my wife a 2125, that the 3125 was already on the rebate list for Cingular. The original projected release was mid-August, but was pushed back for compatibility issues. Last I have heard, they are and have been "field" testing it now (for about a month). Now field testing means that people that "know" what they are doing have been using the phone as a personal, testing the in's and out's of it to see if they encounter any problems. If they do, this is what can cause delays. I will be sure to let everyone know what I can, as soon as I can. Oh yeah, the speculated pricing for this phone if you are a Cingular Premiere member will be around $199 with contract. I am not sure about the consumer market though, but I would expect something along the lines of a $300 price tag with a Mail in rebate to knock that down a bit, all of course with contract or extension (pure speculation on my part judging from recent trends in the phone industry).
This post is not meant to slander or discredit any other Windows Mobile sites out there, I am just simply trying to get the "facts" (everything is a rumor) straight at this point.
