A member over at Hofo by the name of bitslap47 has rewritten the code for Sirus CE to work on Windows Mobile devices. I tried it out today and it is awesome, and its perfectly legal. You must have a subscription with Sirius Radio for this to work or you can sign up for a free 3 day trial here.

Expect more updates to this software to follow, and yes its the software is free.

.NET Compact Framework 2.0 is not required as orginally thought so if you have limited space on your phones memory, there is no need to install it. Also if you have a WM5 device, more than likely you have the 2.0 version already installed.

Instructions:

Download SiriusWM5.

Unzip the file and move the .exe file into any directory you want on your smartphone. I put mine in \Program Files\SiriusWM5\SiriusWM5.exe. Then I created a shortcut in put it in \Application Data\Start Menu

The program will create a .asx file to the channel you choose and play it in Windows Media Player 10 on your phone.

It is HIGHLY suggested that you have an unlimted data plan with your carrier since streaming media uses alot of data.

Tip:

If your at home, connect your phone to ActiveSync and use pass-thru connection to listen to your fav. Sirius stations using your data connection on your computer.

I will post updates to this program as bitslap47 releases them. Also, a archive of this information is in my blog if you need to get back to it later.

This happens on my 2125 while ActiveSync is connected. Either unplug, or go to File->Connection Settings and set "This computer is connected to:" from Automatic to The Internet (Cingular). I assume this is what Omega meant by "If your at home, connect your phone to ActiveSync and use pass-thru connection to listen to your fav. Sirius stations using your data connection on your computer."

This app ROCKS! All those 'portable' players can kiss my... now I can actually go into the depths of a buidling with my Sirius!

Does anybody have info on the different versions of the program? QVGA vs Std? Neither Lite version seems to work properly on my 2125... I cannot get the cursor to go up for entering my username.

What about a java version? I have a SLVR cell phone with itunes and it's an AWESOME phone. The speaker in it is unbelieveably loud and clear. Would it be hard for someone to write a java based version of this software with a java based music player built in for this to work with other cell phones?

When I open the app on my 8125 it says "channel list is missing!" and then I have to quit the app. Does anyone know what this is about?

Nevermind. I figured it out. Seems there was an error on the channel list!

After installing both this application and using the minixm application I cannot seem to get either stream to work (yes I have accounts with both sirius and XM). I am wondering if anyone else has this problem? It brings the media player up, goes to connect, and then stops. I am in an area where I get the edge network, which I thought would be fast enough, but I am thinking that inorder to use these applications, one must be on a 3G network.

Well, Sirius has changed the method to listen to the streams, requiring a visual confirmation to be entered first. This means we can no longer use this awesome app that was ported to WM5 smartphone. Many think this was done intentionally by Sirius. The guy who made the original SiriuCE has already fixed it for pocket pcs.. http://www.emulamer.com/SiriuCE.html we just need it tweaked for smartphone users.. hint hint. biggrin.gif

Are there any updates to this? I am wondering if there is a working way to get this on your phone these days. I am contemplating geting a Sirius system and subscription so this would be kick @$$ if something works.

Good Afternoon,

I am very new to forums and to my Cingular 2125, I had heard that I could pipe my sirius connection through my phone (already have unlimited data plan in place) and I am very hazy on how to do it. I downloaded the cab files, but installing them (there was no .exe file in the zipped files) has been troubling. I can't seem to do it.

If some one could walk me through this, it would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, I would ask that they step me through this as if they were stepping a 12 year old through it as I am very new to all of this. I couldn't find where in my Media Player to play the sirius stream, how do I change channels, heck I don't know if I have even installed it correctly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you could help out a newbie, it would be great.

Thanks

CingularScott
