For those who didn't know, I found out from AT&T that the MPX200 will not be covered by the equipment insurance. I had a GU87 that was, but when I went to buy the Motorola phone they told me that the company who insures the phones will no tinsure Smartphones at this time.

Insurance is $5/month and will cover anything that happens to the phone. You are allowed 2 claims a year and there is a $35 deductible.

just remember: this is ATT you are dealing with. that said, they will charge you 5$ a month for insurance if you want BUT it will not cover your mpx200. i found this out after an hour on the phone with CS. i said why would you take my money and not cover my phone and he said they can add insurance to any account that doesnt mean they cover the phone... what happens is another company insures the phones, not ATT themselves. so, with CS still on the line we called that company 3-way and the rep. there told us they do NOT cover the mpx200 nor any other smartphone. we hung up and the ATT CS guy said that is the ONLY company they use and to seek insurance myself elsewhere since you dont have to go throught ATT.

so, if you are paying for insurance, it is most likely not even covering your phone.

unbelievable...makes me wonder if the CSRs are having morale issues (read: getting bonues for signing up folks for insurance even though insurance won't pay). as Alchemist said..."this is ATT you are dealing with"...

Keep in mind that some reputable homeowners' insurance policies will cover your phone...
