These are some great comparison photos! I wish my pictures came out this good - mine are always a little blurry.

I've posted this on other forums but I figure the more it is out there the more people may call HTC and try to get the BT stack on the 6800 fixed.

I've had a lot of complaints that people can't make out what I'm saying and lot's of what's when talking through the BT on my 6800. I posted on a couple of other forums and a lot of people are confirming the same issue. Very choppy performance via BT on the 6800. A lot of people don't notice since calls going TO the 6800 sound fine - it is how you sound to them. I've been using BT for over 2 years and tested 3 different models on my 6800 to confirm the issue. Seems to be more common on longer phone calls - 5 minutes or more. As soon as I got my new phone several people said I was all broken up - didn't have to tell them I had a new phone.

I was wondering if the issue might be a defective phone so I just spoke to tech support at HTC - 866-449-8358 - first they asked me if I tried other devices, resetting the device. Then I asked if there was a patch or anything possible for this - they said it he's gotten a lot of calls about this same issue and they are aware of the issue.

I'd suggest you call 866-449-8358, not to bug them but to let them know if you are having this issue to try and make sure they get enough notification so that the patch comes out sooner than later.

I got the plantronics 640 and the traveller. The plantronics is outrageously light, has adequate volume. I called two people so far. One said it sounded fine. The other said it was slightly muffled - the battery was nearly dead so I'll check back after I've charged it.

I also got the Logitech Traveller. It is not NEARLY as comfortable as the plantronics and because it isn't in-ear it doesn't sound as clear to me but one person so far said it sounded clearer to him.

I am really upset - drove 20 minutes to the $@!#! Compusa last night where the computer showed them in stock. Unfortunately the web site didn't tell me that they were remodelling the phone section or that the sloth that worked there would be too lazy to go in the back to get either for me when I asked them to get them for me.

BTW - not everyone appreciates the traveller - http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_de...=reviews&id=713

I'll still check it out but I believe a lot of headsets just don't work well with certain phones.

I haven't seen the Platronics.  My CompUSA didn't have them in stock, and I kept checking every day.  Your's should get them soon, just keep checking the website every day to find out when.  I am really loving the Traveller.

It is so strange mine has the one your doesn't and vice versa. I can't find any place that has the sony that I can test in person.

Links are fine as long as it isn't to anything illegal.  The store he PMed me is here.  I'll have to pick one up when I get paid.

My compusa does not have the traveller but does have the Plantronics 640. By any chance did you get a chance to compare them? I'm going to wait until they have both so I can test them at the same time (practically). It would be great if they had the Sony HBH-610. Some people love the sony - some HATE it. I figure if I could test all 3 I'd know for sure since not all headsets react well to different phones.

I was going to try one out but I did a search and none of the stores local to me in Los Angeles have that headset. I hate to get this mail order - I save money but then I have the restocking fee and return shipping if it doesn't work out.

There are just as many negatives for every headset I look at so I'm guessing I'll have to test for myself any headset before I find one that works well with my phone. Even on forums for my particular phones, there is dissagreement about which headsets work.

Getting off topic, how do you like the 6700?  I like the look of it, and may have considered it if it came out at the same time as the i730.  To late for me though, I am locked in to Verizon.

I didn't get the chance to get to my CompUSA today, but I did call.  I think they routed me to a call center though, and the person I spoke with says they don't have the Traveler yet.  Maybe your store got them out early.  Anyone else get one at CompUSA yet?
*

Smeg - I really do like my 6700. The i730 is more stylish, has a better screen and speaker but the keyboard on the 6700 makes me accept those weaknesses. I had them both side by side and if the i730 had BT 1.2, the large keyboard and had WM5 right now (should be out by December for the i730) I would have definitely gone with the i730 if there was a choice. The 6700 does NOT come with VoiceCommand like the i730 does. Both are very good phones with strengths and weaknesses. I'm on Sprint so I didn't really have to think about it. I had the 6600 before - it was good but I didn't like it nearly as much as this phone - this phone is mostly good smile.gif

I'm fairly certain that there are no WM Smartphones with 1.2 or 2.0 on them.  Only 1.1 is available at this time.

Good to know. I have the PPC6700 which is 1.2 so I'm hoping it is better than using BT on my old 6600 which was 1.1. I didn't bother getting a headset for my old phone just because it was less than sufficient. I'm not sure if 1.2 will make it worthwhile but I truly hope it does.

I think if you have the MPx220 it is version 1.1 - you can use 1.2 and 2.0 BT devices with it but they will only communicate at 1.1 - which from what I hear is more susceptable to static/hiss.

I appreciate the info from both of you! I may go down to Compusa and give it a try.

Could you tell me what version of Bluetooth your phones are - that may have something to do with why one is more favorable than the other.

PS GrYph0n - good luck.

I just picked up the Mobile Traveler from CompUSA
I've only used it briefly.
It is very comfortable, and the volumn is plenty loud. (haven't used it in the car yet)
It makes a lot of clicking, static type noises with my MPX 220. Similar to the MOTO 810, but more clicking and louder clicking.
I sent myself a voicemail, to listen to the sound quality.
It has a huge amount of background noise. I am in a quiet location, and the only thing I can hear running is the sound of the computer fan.
It actually sounded like I was in a noisy car.
I intend to give it more time, but I will definately have to evaluate the pickup of background noise.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info - I really appreciate it.

I didn't think Compusa had these already - mind if I ask how much and in what city?
That is a very dissapointing review - is your phone BT 1.1 or BT 1.2?
Please let me know how it is in the car.

Thanks again.

I just pm'd a link - not sure of rules regarding links. I'm hoping someone has one - I'm dying to get a new headset - my jabra pro boom cable snapped and I'm debating about buying another one or going BT.

Hello,

I see a place on the web that has the Mobile Traveller in stock - if anyone has one already - there are a few things I'd like as many opinions on as possible. I've noticed that opinions vary a great deal on headsets so I'm guessing it depends a great deal on the phone you are testing with.

1 Echo - do callers here their own voice echo or any other echo?

2 Clarity - do callers notice you are are on a headset (did you ask)

3 Static - if you have a BT 1.2 device, is there any static - I realize older 1.1 devices will only communicate at 1.1 with this device. If you have your phone in your pocket is their any problem?

4 Noise reduction - any problem in windy places?

5 charge - how long can you use it?

6 Voice Command - have you tried it with a PPC 6700?

Hello,

I see the Mobile Traveller is now in stock at one store I saw on line. The Sony didn't get rave reviews so I was wondering if you were ready to release your full review of the Mobile Traveller?

Thanks again!

Not at the same time no, if your headset is paired to both the cell and home phones, it can only be connected to one at a time.  I will test this with my wifes phone just to be sure, but I would imagine it would not work.  However, if your headset is not activly connected to your cell phone then it will connect with the other phone.  Time to test...

Update:  Tested and it did not work as expected.  I am pretty positive that NO headset that is out there will do this.  Granted the Traveller and most headsets can be Paired to both phones (then some), but can only be connected to one at a time........
*

Thanks - not quite sure if I understand the difference between being paired etc. I guess my question is probably not clear. I was reading about plantronic headsets that were multi-homed. I figured that meant you could answer a call from whichever call came in first without making any changes on either unit. I don't expect it to be able to take two calls and merge them or anything. Is my goal clear?

GrYph0n,

Sorry for the newbie questions but I'm not familiar with BT headsets yet. Will the traveller let you auto connect to two different devices? If I got a BT unit for my home phone and my cell phone is BT, if I got a call on my home phone could I have my traveller which I was just using on my cell auto connect to the home phone?

Thanks

OK - if anyone is interested - this is the ONLY thing I could find on the HBH-610 that wasn't from the prop sheet.

GrYph0n,

Thanks I really appreciate it. It does make me think the Traveller might be worth waiting for. The only thing is it probably won't be available for 3 weeks. The HBH-610 is available now but I can't find a single nice review like the one you posted.

Thanks I figured anyone who had the traveller probably was a beta tester for Logitech so they might have all of the logitech phones.

Thanks. I've got enough info on the freedom - good price but not right for me. The pro would be a better choice for various reasons but I'm appreciating the feedback on the pro vs. traveller. Should I put this in a new thread?

Thank you very much! Have you asked callers to do a comparison between the mobile pro and the traveller in sound quality - I think that would be my last question. I use it for business so I can't have echos or any other issues. If the traveller and pro are equal, it will be between the HBH-610(trying to find any real review - not company propaganda) and the traveller. I'd love to pick up a headset tomorrow but don't want to make a blind purchase. The HBH-610 is available now but I still can't find any real reviews - all just copies of the company statement.

http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/semc_2005/index.php?p=e is the only non company statement thing I've seen on it.
