is it just me or did Cingular finally lock out the Blue SIM data users. It started yesterday or so and i can make and receive calls but data will not make a connection. This is with the Blue SIM of course. Anyone else seeing this? Did any settings change?

ok.i am gonna try again....will the Microsoft VPN on my Cingular 8125 work over GPRS? It works great over my home wifi connection, but i can't get the VPN to get me on my corporate LAN. I recall someone talking of a NAT issue.

has anyone been able to get this to work?

I launched my beta Agile Mobile last week and it made me update the software which then has a trial period of 7 days. Then you have to buy it. I went to the Agilemobile.com site and there are 3 different service levels. I dont understand what they mean. The first plan is for 3 months at $14.95. My question is....does this mean the program stops working after 3 months...or i just dont get support from the company. I dont really care about the support I just want the program unlocked forever.

anyone come across all this?

OK..here is one for ya.

I have a Dlink DI-524 wireless router(192.168.0.1) connected in my closet to the internet connection. I have the WIFI and DHCP turned off on this router. I have a Linksys 5 port switch plugged into the Dlink. I have a Linksys WRT54G(192.168.0.2) plugged into that switch and set to router mode and with DHCP off. The cable goes from the switch to one of the 4 ports of the Linksys router, NOT the WAN port. I have the DHCP server running from my Windows 2003 Server connected to the Dlink router.

I can connect all day long from my laptop wireless(set to DHCP). When I do a IPCONFIG /ALL on my laptop I get all the right information populated....gateway...dns servers, etc.

When I connect with my 8125, it connects and then only works for like 1 minute. Then wont resolve anything I try to connect to.

When I grab my next door neighbor's signal(dont tell him) just to test...it stays working for as long as I want.

I suppose my networking skills are lacking somewhere.

anyone have any thoughts on this?

thanks,

i hope this is the appropriate forum. i just ordered a 1GB miniSD for 55.71 out the door from Costco.com. There is a $20 rebate for the next week. Seemed like a pretty good deal to me for ~35 bucks.

I hard reset my phone(8125) and cleared it. It rebooted and took me thru a quick wizard for setup then gave the message about it will configure itself in 3 seconds. I hit the soft reset at this point and rebooted it.

it comes back with a quicker OS but no Ext Rom. I like it cuz its a trimmed down version. but the thing is I can not connect to EDGE. Apparently you the Ext Rom is required to get EDGE. As soon as I hard reset the phone again and let it do everything(loading the Ext Rom) I get EDGE back.

anyone have any thoughts on this?

I had the SMT5600 and I just bought a 8125. In my house(where I can get a good baseline) the Cingular 8125 seems to get much better connections. The 5600 wouldnt necessarily drop calls but the call wouldnt be smooth through out. So far the 8125 seems to have better continuous call quality.

i want to do this too. but my work's exchange server is on corporate LAN...so i have to VPN first to get to it.

I can do this via WIFI at home. but i thought i remember someone saying that VPN(PPTP) over GPRS doesn't work for cingular/ATT and that the IPSEC must be used.

any thoughts?

i used that link I provided in my last reply...and got it working. its nice to have the EDGE.

dumb question:

so everytime i want to switch between WiFi and GPRS data I have to into the Connections->Advanced tab to Select Networks and switch between MyISP(wifi) or mMode(my GPRS data setup)?

this is after u go into Connection Mgr to enable Wifi.

thanks

i have had my 8125 for almost a week and its been slow at times. i checked out
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/software...nloads_8125.htm
and noticed the Radio and Protocol versions werent the latest. I updated the ROM for Cingular 8125 and we will see if I can notice any differences.

anyone else have any experience with this latest ROM?

thanks,

i finally was able to do a Sync with my corporate exchange server over my home WIFI. in my case VPN is required (our servers are not available directly to the internet). when i hit Sync in ActiveSync...i can see the VPN fire up and connect then the ActiveSync goes to it. My contacts, calendar, and email all sync pretty fast.

when i had the charger plugged in, (its usb of course) i had to go into Connections in ActiveSync and uncheck the box for USB. When i am running on battery i dont have to uncheck. I uncheck it cuz i am never going to cable my 8125 to my PC to sync...just to transfer files to it and vice versa.

there were a few quirks along the way.

if anyone is still having problems with this let me know and I will do my best to help out.

yeah this is a problem....people all over the place are complaining about this. i already use the same VPN connection for work on my house wifi on my laptop just fine.

getting the 8125 to connect to the VPN is a mystery. and it looks like it doesnt really indicate that its in effect like on Windows XP(the second lil blue computers in the system tray.)

and i have done extensive searches on google and microsoft with no success.

frustrating

here is the link. its for generic PPC since the 8125 isn't listed as one of the models.

you can click on 'Download' in the left hand pane and it will take u back to see all the models.

http://www.skype.com/download/skype/mobile/download.html

it says 312mhz..but it seems to work fine for me.

hope this helps

i am getting ready to try this myself. my work's exchange server is on our corporate LAN so I will have to get the VPN on my 8125 to connect first so I can hit the Exchange server.

I am running through this article to make sure I dont miss anything. y'all will probably think its generic or already been thru it..but i figured i would post the link anyway.

try Skype...its pretty cool when u can grab wifi. but if u have no one to skype to dont bother. there is a pay part of skype where u can make VoIP calls to anywhere.

there is a slower processor version.
