QUOTE (GrYph0n @ Sep 12 2006, 01:41 AM) *
Now this is interesting, and funny. I just popped the battery out of my wife's Cingular 2125, set it aside, then popped the battery out of the back of my old 5600. I decided to compare them together first, without reading the batteries first, I started comparing size, and it all seemed to match up. Then I flipped the 2125 battery over to read the model, etc. information. My wife's 2125 had an Audiovox Communications Corp. battery, Model: BTR5600, Rating: 3.7VDC, 1050mAh. Uh, if you havn't guess by now, they are the exact batteries. I am not sure if this holds true for all 2125's, but my wife has told me that she hasn't ever messed with the battery. Guess that means she has two extra batteries around the house now...

Don't you have 2 3125 phones laying around too? With all that investment in the 2125, having three batteries and all, I am thinking you might want to get rid of one of those 3125s. I happen to know someone that has a 5600 with a dying battery <:

Anyone know if the Audiovox 5600 can use the Cingular 2125 battery? Form factor looks the same, voltage is the same. The 2125 might be different size, but its hard to tell from pictures. Anyone know?

My meeting reminder is not longer popping up. I went into the menu-> options of the scheduler and it is set to 15 Minutes, and I have verified the meeting itself it set for 15 minutes. I have tried different sound profiles and checked the reminder sounds (they are the standard Alarm 4). Any ideas?

If I remember correctly it's running WM5 smartphone.

That stinks. Talking with some Mapopolis people, they say the memory management is different. Not as good on the Smartphone.

Or they will be sacked and Cingular will lower their operating costs and increase profits.

QUOTE (Sean @ Mar 23 2006, 09:23 AM) *
Just think about it, right now, there are some percentage of Cingular people who have to fix and maintain the old towers, once they are freed up, they can fix GSM, that will equate to better service for us.

What about phone reception? I find that my wifes RAZR gets much better reception then my 5600. Hers is definately usable in our house, while mine I have to go to hotspots in the house to make a call.

The bottom line here is that Microsoft could make the decision here...
If I buy a Dell computer with Windows 2000, I don't need to wait for Dell to release the Windows XP upgrade.  I can just go to a store and buy the upgrade.
If I screw up the computer doing the upgrade, Dell won't help me, and microsoft will charge me for support.

It is funny that you quote Dell. I had upgraded my father-in-law's computer to Windows ME way back when Dell's had 98. Well his computer always had a video problem where it would stutter while playing games. It had it with 98 and it had it with ME. When I called Dell tech support to fix it, they refused to do anything until I had reinitialized the computer to their specification when they sold it. However, if I had purchased ME through Dell, they would have supported me.

I told them while I was on the phone that it did it before we updated to ME, but they would not accept that. So after 5 minutes of talking to this person in circles, I said "OK, I have finished installing 98. I did it while we were talking" Needless to say, she didn't believe me. smile.gif

Something weird is happening on my phone. For the last two days I have not been able to get 12 hours out of the battery. Nothing has been added or changed on my phone for some time so I am not sure what's going on.

Death of a battery? I am sure you have already made sure you have gotten a full charge, reset the phone, removed the battery and all that garbage? Check to make sure battery terminals are clean?

Official, unofficial, not much different. I wouldn't mind an update ala MPX200. By then my warranty will pretty much be up anyways.

Deja Vu all over again. Are cell phone carriers going to offer Magneto upgrades to existing Smartphone users this time around? Are there any hardware incompatibilities as far as a possible OS port?

I get about 1 day per bar. So basically I can go 4 days without a charge, though the forth day is a stretch. I can easily get 3 days, and I have bluetooth on all the time. I probably use my phone about 400-500 minutes a month, with my only bluetooth usage (though I still have it turned on) during my drive to and from work.

Try calling the AT&T business to business line, because they still sell the 5600 there. 1 866 ATWSB2B I think.

AT&T business has it for $150 with 1 year contract no rebates if your company has a national business account with AT&T. You might want to check into it.

It looks like they are giving the 50% discount on most of the PDA phones now, where last month they weren't offering the 50% discount to me on the MPx220 or 5600.

The only way that I can think of would be to charge the battery with an external charger, AKA another MPx200 that works. I haven't tried that yet because I don't have any friends with an MPx200. Do any other motorola's use the same battery? Probably not, knowing Moto.

Was your fault that it completely would not charge, or that it had poor battery life? I am experiencing poor battery life, and in rereading your post, I doubt this is my problem.

Firstly, how did you come across this? Do you have any knowledge as to why this affects the charging of the battery to full capacity? What does doing a hard reset have to do with this fuse? The procedure you gave is very detailed and easy to follow. I just like to know the why's before I crack open cases on cell phones.

Another solution that I think people have missed is the obvious solution that should work for all firmwares. Have the person on the other end of the phone yell loudly.

I don't think it is worth dealing with Motorola problems to have the MPx220. I prefer the flip design, and obviously a quad band radio would be preferrable, although I have never been to Europe! But I think the Audiovox is definately a more solid product in both hardware, and software, and I believe the radio is just better, even though it is only a tri-band.

Thats the thousand dollar question. It is not out of the question that they used the same hardware for both phones and used software stacks to differentiate. They might have tuned the radio for better 850MHz operation, but it might still work decently well at 900MHz.

Has anyone used this i.Trek Bluetooth GPS? $129.99 seems pretty cheap, and 20 hours of battery life seems very good. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with it.

We will see, even prorated those are weird numbers. If he should get 100 bonus minutes, I don't see how it can come out to 291 prorated.

A guy at work just started an AT&Tular plan, instead of 800 plan minutes and 100 bonus minutes he ended up with 774 plan minutes and 291 bonus minutes listed in his online account. I don't know where they came up with those numbers, but sheesh they really put something weird in there.
