i'd like to see the list of items this updated ROM is supposed to address. cuz if one of the items is earpiece volume, i'm remain skeptical about a registry fix correcting this problem.

i dissected my phone to switch to the Ox Blood housing and, in the process, i discovered that the earpiece speaker is very tiny; about 1/4 inch wide and 1/4 tall. the other thing i noticed is that the speaker is positioned to one side vs being centered.

i truly hope that my skepticism is unfounded and that this "hyped software update" message is indeed a good sign of top quality, "ground breaking" ROM update. ph34r.gif

by the way, i was able to register my IMEI# despite not receiving this email.

Registred via the update. I am anxious to see what this software update will be capable of.

Does anyone else think that Motorola's site is horrible? For such a large company, you'd think they'd actually have a site that you can navagate and find what you want -- despite all the products that they manufacture. Say what you want about Microsoft, but at least they have a site that can be navigated.

As ghandlin said just before me, what's the link? I went to the Software Update section of the Motorola MPX-220 site and it just says that the Update Tool is down -- and gives no place to enter my info.

Here's the original add for the update:

http://promo.motorola.com/mpx220/index.html

Maybe fill that out first then try the new page.

I filled out the original form and got a confirmation page saying that it was okay. But there has been no follow-up email. Should I use the newer page that is linked earlier in this thread?

I would be wary about giving my IMEI and mobile number to this web site that doesn't appear to be affiliated with Motorola or Cingular.

Anyone think that they MIGHT upgrade the MPx220 to Windows Mobile 2005? Could that be what the new ROM upgrade is all about?

Their site looks legit. My guess is that Motorola outsourced the management of the list collection to them. Lots of large companies do this even though it's a relativly simple task.

This Site:

Links to a whiterunkle page...so I think it's safe to say it's legit.
