I have had quite a bit of trouble with it but I finally do have the Kensington USB bluetooth adpator working.  No thanks to Kensington, BTW.  They have no driver updates or any online help worth anything.  I found things to work much better if I installed the WIDCOM software with the BT adaptor unplugged.  Once the software is installed THEN attach the adaptor.  I have ordered a Linksys BT adpator to see if it is easier to deal with.

Not sure how to modify the COM port number.  My system (XP, SP2) uses COM3 for the BT serial port and COM4 for the BT modem.  Try going to the control panel, clicking the BT Configuration ICON, select services panel.  There you can add a new serial port.  I can't modify the COM number from the device manager as another post suggests.  Not sure but the may be that the poster has a different version of windows??

I have the Linksys BT adaptor operational now. The Linksys appears to work much better with my mpx220. Far fewer problems pairing etc... The actual Linksys BT USB adaptor also has a little antenna so it seems to have better coverage than the kensington.

Folks, if you have a choice, go with the Linksys over Kensington and save yourself some aggravation.

Hmmmm.... how is this done?  I can't seem to add a "p" after the voice mail phone number... and "," doesn't appear to work either.

Never mind... press and hold the "*" key to shift into character mode. Add a "p" for a pause.

Cool trick.

You can even add your password with a pause so you don't even have to enter that.

If you get any errors STOP and contact Cingular.

I have been using my mpx220 for about a week now. To be honest, I miss my mpx200... I thought it was a better phone... but it didn't have 850MHz which was causing serious reception problems. Bluetooth is a bonus, but the 850MHz is why I switched.

Anyway, I want to use the SIM1 lock to lock my SIM card. On the mpx200, I just created my own 4 digit code and then any time I powered the phone up it would ask me for that code. Since the SIM card was under the battery, this made it impossible to steal the SIM card.

I tried to do the same on my mpx220 but it appears the SIM1 lock has already been entered... no it wasn't me and I have no idea what the code is. Thing is, I don't get prompted when I power up... so it must be some default code?!?! It's a Cingular SIM card. Anyone else ever encounter this?

As a side note... anyone know what SIM2 lock is used for?

Please please please don't respond with "Well, Cingular phones come locked... does anyone know if companies are selling unlock codes for mpx220s?" This has NOTHING to do with that topic.

I'm talking about settings->security->enable SIM lock

I just bought the Kensington bluetooth device and have been trying to make it synch with my MPx220 and have not yet been successful.  I think the problem is that the Bluetooth serial port on my laptop is COM11 and ActiveSynch does not have an option to synch using that com port.  I'm just wondering how you have it configured to work.

bostonbear,

The interference you are hearing is normal.  This happens with all GSM phones, but it is more noticable with 850MHz.

Thanks, KublaKhan. Based on your response I did some google-ing and found an interesting discussion on this. Sounds like exactly what I am experiencing. At least I know my phone is not defective.

I have been attempting to sync up my mpx220 via bluetooth on my PC with limited success.

Windows XP SP2
Kensington bluetooth adaptor
MPX220 (1.3)

I have been able to sync up twice. Seems like I always have to reboot to get it to work.

Has anyone had success using the kensington bluetooth device? I'm thinking of getting a linksys bluetooth adaptor and seeing if that works better. Anyone have any experience with this?

Maybe its just me, and I couldn't find any other post on this topic, so here goes...

I have a bluetooth Headet for my MPX220.  Is there a way to answer my phone via my headset? I.E. - My phone is closed and in my case and it rings, can i press a button on my headset to pick it up?

Thanks.

How you do this depends on the headset but in general, you just need to press the multi-function button on the headset to answer a call. There is a delay (1-2 seconds) before the connection is made. I use a Jabra 250 and it works well. If you read the headset manual, many even have special features that allow you to dial the phone from the headset (last number redial, etc...).

Start>Settings>Phone>Call Options.  That is where you set your number and it is defaulted and locked to the 1 key.  Hope this helps

I just received an MPX220 and so far... not so good.

For the moment, I'll forget about syncing via BT... which does not seem to work very well... I'll also forget about the strange interference the phone can cause with speakers (sounds sort of like morse code coming out of the speaker)... my PC speakers, the radio in my kitchen... even a land-line handset speaker if I hold the cell phone up to it... very, very strange.

Anyway, let's start off with the basics... to check my voice mail I press and hold 1. The phone then displays an error indicating that it can't dial the number. Basically, I have no way of checking my voice mail. The speed-dial menu does not even allow me to modify the value for 1... ??? What the heck!?

I just received the Mercury EVA pouch holster.

See:

http://www.mpx200.org/modules.phpop=modloa...=article&sid=50

It's a good holder, nice looking... I have no problems... but I'm curious. The top back of the pouch has a small velcro strip/tie. At first I thought it was to wrap around my belt loop but it's too short for that. Anyone know what this little doo-dad is for?? Maybe something to do with the wrist strap for the phone (it's sort of located near that on the phone).

:?

Hello,

I have had my MPx200 for a few weeks now and love it. The Outlook sync is worth it alone.

Anyone know of an MP4 player for it? I use iTunes (which is a great service) but iTunes uses the MP4 format which won't play on the windows media player.
