Mpx200 as computer modem on T-Mobile tutorial.

NOTICE: I am not responsible for any damage done to your device.

This is my first “How to” on the MPX200 so to take it easy and if you have any questions
please e-mail me at Shawnrwitt@hotmail.com. I will do my best to answers your questions, but I did more information gathering than figuring out how to do it.

I am currently using this T-Zone unlimited 4.99 plan right now and have run into zero problems with this setup.

The first thing to do before getting this to work is make sure that your setting are correct and that you are connecting to the internet with the phone. As long as the internet is working with the phone it will work through the phone.

1.) The first time you plugged your phone in your computer should have recognized the modem and installed the drivers.

2.) You will need to setup a new dial up connection through Explorer.
Through Tools->Internet options->Connection Tap -> Setup.
Set the connection up manually and Name it T-Mobile.
Leave username and password blank.

3.) You will need to enter a modem command line so that the modems will dial correctly.
To do this you need to unplug your phone so Active sync is not running, then turn the modem link on through the phone under Accessories. The modem link only stays active for 30 seconds so you have to be quick. After you have done this open control panel, than modem options. Smartphone 2002 USB wireless should be listed, click properties, than the Advanced tab. List the modem string corresponding to what plan you have. If you have free wap/T-zone use +CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com","",0,0 or +CGDCONT=1,"IP","","wap.voicestream.com",0,0 .
If you are using the 19.99 data plan than use
AT+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet2.voicestream.com","",0,0 .

4.) You need to make the modem dial *99#, other words enter it where you would enter your access number.

Once the setup it complete activate modem link on the phone. Connect it to the computer, dial out and it should work. Make sure your dial up connection is using the right modem if you are having problems connecting.

I have to disable my other internet connection through network connections to get my modem to work, others may not have to. I not sure if you have to dial *99# on the 19.99 data plan. I test the connection a couple of times and get about 41kps and about 4 to 5 kps on download. It’s faster than my old dial up.

Special thanks go out to jtichenor and kalidor.

If you are having problems e-mail me at Shawnrwitt@hotmail.com or post. I am a college student so my my replies may be irregular.

Just have one thing to add/correct...
With my phone/laptop the string for the unlimited internet is...
+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet2.voicestream.com","",0,0 (for unlimited) and...
+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet3.voicestream.com","",0,0 (For unlimited with VPN)
