The WiFi should already work on any B wireless network. Unless you do the G registry change it will only connect with 802.11b. But regardless you are not restricted to T-Mobile Hotspots.

You don't need to unlock it, because it already has wifi enabled.

I believe he's talking about the SIM unlock. It should work the same way as the 2125, but I'm not certain about that.

I assume it is. The unlock here is for the SDA and 2125. I think the free method should work on either as well. Only way to know for sure is to do it.

Well, T-Mobile is my carrier, but I went ahead and tried out the free unlock method anyway, since I'll need to unlock it when I go to Asia. The SPVServices program seemed to have unlocked it, but I won't know until I try to stick a friend's SIM card in there. I'll keep you guys updated.

What is this G registry change? I looked through all posts on the Cingular 2125/T-Mobile SDA forum and didn't find anything about it. I'd appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction.

I'm not sure if it is the same, but the 8125 has a registry hack, here. Slacker may have been thinking of that hack, or that hack may work on the SDA as well. Not really sure, I don't have one to try it with.

I have a quick quesiton.

I'm looking at getting an SDA on ebay, and I already have the SIM I want to use for my phone. I'm curious, do I need the t-mobile sim card to be able to perform this unlock?

Let me know,
Thanks!

I believe it involves Activesync in some part of the unlock process, so you would need a T-Mobile SIM to get the phone to boot until it was unlocked.

Is there any way to do it without a T-Mobile SIM using some other way?

Would it work if I bought a T-Mobile pay as you go SIM card off ebay?

Would that allow me to then use the phone and install the unlock?

Thanks!

Well, even if you have a friend with a T-Mobile SIM that you could put in the phone for 1 boot, that would work. All you really have to do it put the SIM in the phone, boot it, and put it in flight mode. Once you do that it'll boot fine without a SIM in it at all. You could possibly even just go to a T-Mobile store and ask an employee if you can borrow their's for a second to put it in flight mode. A prepaid will also work.

Im confused. I went to the site that had the "free" unlocker, but the only program requires a key code. Am I missing something?

Thanks
