Nope, as of right now and probably forever the MPx200 does not support any SDIO cards. The slot is not listed as an SDIO slot and as far as I know there are no bluetooth or wifi card drivers for any smartphone device and if someone were to write them they would probably be for the 2k3 platform and not 2k2.

There is debate over whether the slot is indeed SDIO but Motorola just didn't pay the license fee so they can't list it as SDIO. Officially it is not an SDIO slot. The existence of a camera that uses the slot tends to indicate that it is an SDIO slot but Motorola could have always come up with a proprietary solution.

According to the project manager at ATT, this phone is SDIO capable but no SD device on the market is smartphone capable yet.

And according to the project manager at Microsoft, the phone is not SDIO capable. smile.gif

It's all moot until there are drivers anyway.

Is it so difficult to create a driver?

I reckon, as no one has yet. Odds are that it took so long to get the SP2002 out the door (collectively, about 3 years from the first time I heard about Stinger) that they planned to wait until it was on the street before working on it... and since it hit the streets after SP2003 was announced (which I think ships with SDIO Now! and will make drivers easier) devs are probably waiting until 2003 ships in Q1/2003. That way they are on the newer bits and only lost Q4/2002 as a sales window.

I think you'll see a whole slew of drivers for SP2003 by the end of Q2 and still not one for SP2002 - at least that's what I would do if I had to make these decisions.

For the bluetooth (which I would like to see) why hasn't anyone worke on writing drivers to use the usb port on the bottom??? I have a dongle for my laptop that plugs into the usb port.

Like I said I am new to the phone but got it because of this forum sot thanks everyone!

To use a USB device you have to have a USB host port. It is doubtful that the USB port on the MPx200 is a USB Host port. Its a feature that is starting to show up in high end PPC devices and may eventually come over to the SP side but its not here now.

You're right about the USB-Host port, but they do make USB based GPS receivers that work with almost all PPC devices. I wonder what acts as the host device in that instance?

Also in the PC Magazine review it states that it is and SD/IO port and it even compares it to the samsung so there is one for ya.

Not at this time, WiFi SD cards (which are SIDO) will not work with the MPx200 (doesn't support SIDO)

MSMobiles is reporting that there are some BETA drivers out for the SDIO WiFi cards from Socket and SanDisk that will work on the SmartPhone platform. Okay - so if drivers become available, then will wifi cards work in mpx 200?

If they release the drivers for the phone then chances are very good that it should work...
