Despite Taiwan manufacturers dominance in the Microsoft Windows Mobile smartphone market, Samsung Electronics and Motorola will introduce self-developed Windows smart handheld devices at the CommunicAsia 2006 exhibition, which will take place in Singapore from June 20-23, according to sources.
Samsung will showcase an ultra-slim PDA phone, the SGH-i320N, which is built on the Microsoft platform and comes with a full Qwerty keyboard, with availability coming soon, indicated the sources.
The Motorola Moto Q was recently launched as a CDMA smartphone in partnership with Verizon Wireless, and the phone maker expects shipments to reach 5.25 million units in the first nine months after its launch. Motorola is also looking to launch a third-generation (3G) version of the Moto Q series in 2007, the sources added.
Microsoft on June 19 held a press conference and showcased a lineup of Windows Mobile smartphones and PDA phones at the upcoming telecom show in Singapore, including models from by Taiwan-based High Tech Computer (HTC), Asustek Computer, BenQ and Gigabyte Communications.
