If I bought the mpx200 from Amazon, but want to use tmobile what do I do? Did Amazon activate the phone w/ ATT or did they just send me the phone?

Amazon sells you the phone...nothing more...the stuff about the monthly service charges and contracts is nothing more than info for when you go to activate your phone with AT&T...

I like to be helpful but this repeating myself is getting a little annoying...please read the forums a bit people...or maybe the admins can put up a sticky with an FAQ about ordering from Amazon and switching to Tmobile...*hint* *hint*

I appreciate your answering this post, however I went through all the posts and found many conflicting and contradictory posts. I was hoping for a definitive answer from someone who knows!

I ordered the phone via Amazon, and the phone was already activated with ATT. I powered my phone on and received a text message with the #. It really makes no difference, you simply call ATT and cancel the service, get the phone unlocked and switch to TMobile. Amazon does not bind you to any contracts. However, getting the rebates might be a hard thing to do.

you cannot get the rebates without getting bound to a contract, the rebates require the contract, and require you to have service throughout the 30 day trial period...ensuring you can't cancel without getting the Early Termination Fee...

this is correct...as long as you do it within the 30 day trial...if you do you can cancel with no problems...just gotta pay for whatever service you use before you cancel...

after the 30 day trial you'll get hit with the early termination fee...so it's best to do it before the deadline...

it seems as though Amazon has kinda changed their way of doing things...people early on were saying that amazon was holding their phone for a credit check and everything...now they just ship the phone...no credit check...that's apparently all handled by AT&T...perhaps Amazon ran into some problems...

waitamoment, you can get the new phone and cancel subscription and all that w/o paying any fees if it's within the 30 day trial? Can you still get it at the super cheap price? tongue.gif I thought you needed to stick with service for a full month before they gave you the rebate.

Well, there are 2 rebates...one is the 50 dollar ATT, which you won't get. All Amazon asks for is a copy of the first months bill...if they don't double check you are still a customer after providing that, then you might get this one. I am waiting to see if I will. My cycle ended before my 30 day trial was up, so it looked like a normal bill.

yeah in this case it might be possible to get the Amazon rebate...if your cycle ends before the 30th day of new service...but I bet AT&T prevents you from doing that kind of loophole by starting your cycle over once you establish new service...
