I use to be able to access the internet with my T-Zones subsciption with my Dash, but they cut out that service a few days ago. I called T-Mobile and they said that some people can access it but it's only a matter of time before that "bonus" runs out. They said I'd need to pay the $29.99 full internet subscription to access it again.

Then, I remembered my old Motorola MP200 and Audiovox SMT5600 settings and tried it. I use the settings discussed here (from the guy from Colorado):

http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/index.php?showtopic=4554

It partly worked on my Dash. So, I can access it again. However, I don't know how long this will last. When I access the internet with Wi-fi, I need to toggle the internet settings to "Automatically detect settings". When I use WAP, I disable that setting. It's kind of an inconvenience, but it's better than nothing.

Bottom line: if your's is still working, don't mess with it. You can try this only when your "subscription" runs out. If you can afford the full internet package, go for it.

Good luck.

Hi Scott,

I'm not sure if switching the plugs between the MM 50 and the standard earphones will work. I think what's screwing it up is the plug and the mic channel. As I mentioned above, the Sony Ericcson earphones and mic worked on my SMT5600. Now, your MM 50 with earphones and mic do not work. Thus, the plugs my look the same, but their channels are different. Maybe the mic and the left earphone are reversed or something on the MM 50. Now, since you have the 2.5 plug already, the adaptor mentioned by Smeg above may not work.

Your last resort is to just return it, or experiment with the cheap standard earphones to find the right channel and which conductor is for the mic and for the earphones. Good luck.

Ron

How do I play media files (from windowsmedia.com) to my SMT5600? I'm with T-Mobile and I can access the internet thru my phone. I also have a mini-SD card installed.

When I click on the file I want to play, it says downloading. Then it goes to Windows Median and I cannot play the file. How can I make this work?

OK. After looking at some actual ones, here's what I've discovered. The one I bought from eBay for my Motorola actually has four conductors*, which only played mono on my Audiovox SMT5600. I borrowed a friend's Sony Ericsson earphone with mic that has four conductors, and that worked on my SMT5600. Thus, I think that an earphone adaptor with four conductors will not work on the SMT5600, but an an actual earphone with mic with four conductors do work.

I went to Radio Shack yesterday and saw an adaptor that has only three condutors and stereo worked. I'm getting the one Smeg recommended from eBay since that has three conductors too only to work as an earphone adaptor. If I need a stereo headphone with mic, I would have to get an actual headphone with mic with the four conductor plug, and not use an adaptor for it.

*Condutors mean the metal contact points on the plug, separated by the black plastic insulators. Four conductors are divided by three black insulators, three are divided by two, etc.

Smeg, I did some more research from this forum. The one I bought has three conductors on the jack. There was one post for a headphone adapter for SMT5600 selliing from PPC Techs has four conductors. How many conductors are on the phone jack you bought from eBay? The one showing from your link above has three only.

Smeg, I have a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter that I bought from eBay for my MPX200. It works great on the MPX200. However, when I tried to use it for my SMT5600, I can only hear mono over my car stereo and headphones. Do you think that it's due to my phone? Are there any other adapter's out there?

I'm looking for a leather holster that exactly fits my SMT5600 similar to the ones made by foneGEAR on sale at CompUSA. The one they have fits, but it's a bit too long and deep. I also DO NOT want any of those holsters or cases with the clear plastic covering. I basically want something that lets the phone slide in and out without scratching it.

Anyone have any ideas? Right now I'm using a small Ziploc bag. Please free my phone.

How come my Smartphone's Explorer can't stream media files from the Windows Media Mobile website? Has anyone tried streaming media files before from Explorer?

BTW, the TCPMP player works great!

I've downloaded TCPMP, but I still can't play the files. I tried looking for the downloaded files in all my directories, but couldn't find them. Where does Explorer put them, also, how can I tell Explorer to put downloaded media files into my SD card?

I can't play media files (*.asx) from the internet (windowsmedia/mobile) with my MPX200's media player. When the phone downloads the song/video, it won't play the file. Is there a way to solve this?

I don't have any problem playing *.wma and *.mp3 files that are already saved in my directory (these were not downloaded from the internet).
