Et all -- BEWARE!! mad.gif Cingular will tell you that your Cingular 2125, 8125, or 3125 is insurable, BUT IT IS NOT. I've been paying for insurance since March, 2006 and I was recently informed that NO CINGULAR SMARTPHONE/POCKET PC/ETC is insurable. They are supposed to be reimbursing me for the proper amount. This is something to consider if you are thinking about buying a SmartPhone. You can call the Cingular Insurance company at 888-562-8662 [Change country code ...] to verify this information.

Cheers,

Personally I think that is crap. I know it is true, and it was the same way with AT&T and lockline with the MPx200. I think they would want to offer coverage more for these phones than others. I can see why they would shy from it though, since these phones are more complex and more things can go wrong.

Verizon provides insurance for phones like the Samsung i730 which is far more complex that any Smarphone I can think of including 3125. I think the insurance is provided by a third party so it could be the way they underwrite the policy.

I do know that my wife dropped her first Qtek 8500 on a gym floor from waist level and the screens were toast. Maybe the design needs to prove it self out in the real world to be evaluated for risk.

If you have homeowners or renters insurance you can usually put insurance on electronics like this thru your policy provider and its usually cheeper.

I just upgraded to the 3125 today, and unsolicited the sales rep told me Nov 1 there will be insurance options from Cingular for the phone that we can buy if we choose.
