Anyone know how to connect a Smartphone connected via USB to a PC Comm Port?

I have a software package for sending SMS's that uses the tapi system to talk to window modems. I've used it plenty of times with Nokia phones that have data cables and software that will put the phone on a comm port, sometimes it will create a virtual port and use that.

I can then directly feed commands to the phone via Hyperterminal also. Anyone know how to do something similar with a Windows Mobile 5 or Treo, etc. I've searched around for software and don't see anything from the manufacturers that do it. Got a Cingular 8125 at the moment trying to get to work.

Thanks

Following the directions here to setup the 8125 as a modem should establish a com port with it.
