So....when will they be available to non-business customers? And is there a student discount?
Unfortunitly I don't have an answer to the availibility to the consumer market, but I am looking into it. I would imagine that it won't be too far off though. Just hope that they don't sell all their stock in the next week . I will post something up as soon as I get more information concerning the Non-Business Cingular Customers.
Great scoop for the MGN viewers. This is a very good phone and well worth $149 from Cingular with their great coverage.
I was just able to purchase the 3125 on the Cingular web site for $149 and keep my plan. I have a 2125 and was able to log on and upgrade the phone. Can't wait to check this phone out.
Regards
Every phone I've waited to buy takes about a week to become available to consumers after it's released to business. Anyone else notice the picture of it closed had an antenna on it? I wonder how they messed that up.
Smeg,
Good catch on the antenna. No way would anyone ruin this beautifully phone with that protrusion. That has to be a graphics error. It looks like the same pic as the LG CG225 closed front view. My wife has her replacement Qtek 8500 back and I think one of the biggest plus's of this HTC model line is the superior keypad. For the size of the phone the keys are very large and easy to hit. I think people are going to be very happy when they get this phone.
Here is kind of how the cart picture should look.

I just can't wait to get a real confirmation that the 3125 has 128ROM, that would make me strongly consider getting a 3125 over my smartflip.
The Cingular specs also list a 1100mha battery as opposed to the 750mha listed as being in the Smartflip and other variations of the phone.
Not sure if that is true, but I am almost certain that the 128 meg ROM is true.
Also, I tried to order through b2b this morning, and couldn't. It now also appears to have been yanked from the main Cingular website as well.
I just noticed that it was gone from the website as well once I talked my wife into me getting one once I confirmed that it truely is 128MB ROM. It is true about the battery being 1100mAh, but I was thinking it was 1150mAh (either way), now I wonder how much thicker that will make it... I am about to call to see if I can place an order that way, but I see that other people on top of you are having that problem as well. Something about a pricing issue, I hope they don't jack up the price. As always, stay tuned to MGN for the latest info.
If I get this, I will be selling my i-mate smartflip on MGN for $300, or posting on eBay
I think it was listed as "over 1100 mAh", which could well mean 1150. My one reservation about this phone was that the battery life under normal usage was supposed to be 1/3 less than the 2125. But with the 1150 battery, it is definatley going to be my next phone. Now if only Cingular would allow b2b customers to buy it!!
I just got off the phone with B2B, and the rep that was "helping" me was unable to locate it in her system. She then told me that it is available online only, but it isn't online anymore. I am wondering if someone screwed up on the pricing and a few lucky souls got away with a steal of a deal on this phone. Notice that in the listing it retails for $299, but that is insane. Look at the retail on the 2125, and this phone retails for a bit more. I am just worried that someone screwed up on the pricing, and we may see an increase (PURE SPECULATION AND RAMBELING ON MY PART!). Hope not because I have $150 credit on my account from my (wife's) 2125 rebate so I would almost be getting it for free if I could ever place an order.
It is 11:00 AM here in Denver and in the name of science and MGN research I just successfully ordered one 3125 from the link in GrYph's top post. It may be a zip code thing.
Here is the spec. I just copied from the link.

Well, I just tried a Denver zip code, (and a SoCal zip code), and still nothing. Maybe it's a coverage thing? In the name of science and MGN research I am more than happy for you to send me your 3125 when you receive it, and I will test it's coverage here in the Tampa area. I will report back my findings in a year, at no cost to anyone (you know, interest of science and MGN research and all that!)
I hope it shows up in 2 days like they say.

Here is a copy of your order summary:

This is just weird. I have tried with each line, using Zips from all over the country (including Denver and New York), with no luck at all. I can tell you that at least with me that SoCal zips are a bust as well. This is getting frustrating...
It's back up on their website.....same price!! It even has a link directly from their home page.
I have asked someone at the office to call b2b again for me.
Well, it's still not available on the B2B website....I thought B2B was supposed to have access to devices BEFORE regular consumers!!
It is now (finally) listed on the B2B website. I am having someone in my office order me one as I write this! Just in time as my 2125 had gotten a little wet, and the joystick was not working properly.
Just ordered mine from the B2B site. I hope I like it lol.
omega2008....
What price did they quote you? They wanted +$400.00 from me!! That's ridiculous! I have a call in to be company's rep at Cingular. Since when is it cheaper for consumers than B2B? I don't think the rep I spoke with knew what they were doing.
Just ordered mine as well . I know I am going to like it as long as the Cingular didn't disable any features or anything. I love my smartflip, but lack of ROM was my biggest complaint, and now I am fixing that with the same form factor with double ROM .
Now this could be of some interest to some of you...

Too bad it requires activation of the Unlimited Data Connect Plan. I got my hopes up at first since I have unlimited data, just not the unlimited connect (too $$ for me). If anyone has that, then you could walk away with getting this phone for $49 (not including taxes and surcharges).

Wow...
HTC doesn't waste any time. http://america.htc.com/products/3125.html
I welcome the larger battery, I am a heavy user of my devices. I am sure you can get a smaller battery and its coresponding back plate if you wanted it.
When I first started using my smartflip, I thought the battery was pretty good. But then again my first month with it was pretty much spent in flight mode (in the middle of the ocean). Now that I am home, I have relized how much of a power user I am, and how this battery just doesn't hold up like I feel it should. I need a mid-day charge usually, which isn't a huge deal because I am usually around a charger, so it hasn't been a major complaint on my end. Now about the back, yes if you get the smaller battery you will need a "tighter' back for it. This phone is weird, there have been a few times when I would have to shut it off via battery removal, but I don't have to remove the battery, just slide the back off, rest out, pop on, and the phone restarts itself. The back pretty much holds the battery in place to ensure connection. Personally I do nothing but welcome the larger battery. I will take some comparison pics (if I remember) when my 3125 gets here.
Is anyone willing to help an MGN buddy with T-Mobile get this phone?
hehe, I'll sell you my smartflip once I get mine
I've been eyeing this phone for months now, like others here...lol...I just bought an Mpx220 b/c my SMT5600's charging port died Would have easily done a contract extention and paid $149 for this...Guess I'll wait a few months til this gets cheaper/eBay or T-Mobile gets something similar (highly doubtful). Or maybe take Gryphon's imate for $100?...j/k
Mine was shipped from Fort Worth, TX today, hopefully I will have it to play with this weekend.
Mine hasn't moved. They are still processing my order. I hope I manage to get one out of the first push. I am already getting anxious even though I already have a Smartflip.
Mine is out for delivery so I should have it around 11:30 (since I'll be in meetings until then)...
Well at least my trip to South Dakota was a little productive.
Nothing like topless bars and new cell phones.
South Dakota - that is a good place to hunt pheasants. - bars, you must have been in Rapid City.
My 3125 is now out for delivery as well.
I think Cingular does a great job of keeping a new subscriber informed.
1. I received an email confirming my order instantly after purchase.
2. They followed that up with an email that linked to a manual and startup guide for Cngular users.
3. Their fulfillment department emailed me to let me know they had my order in process.
4. They emailed me with a tracking number for the order.
5. This morning they emailed me with a tracking update - and it was in Denver being dispatched for delivery.
Very nice customer care by Cingular.
Mine still hasn't shipped. I check the status and it still says that they are processing my order. I wonder what's up with that, and where my phone is...
WOW! File this under the weird and creapy department. Not even 5 minutes after posting the above post, my door bell rang, opened it to see my phone, my 3125 is here. I will be setting it up and my smartflip will be on sale possibly tomorrow. Click the For Sale link in my Sig if you want a smartflip.
Now I wonder why my order status never changed from "We have received your order request, and we expect to begin processing it shortly." Just weird!
Don't have time to play with it now as the delivery guy caught me as I was leaving for work. I set it up to charge though, and I can tell you it is completly different under the battery cover, and yes the battery makes it slightly thicker than my smartflip.
I'd love to see some comparision pics of the two side by side. So you can't use the smaller Smartflip battery and door on the 3125 if you don't want the larger hump?
I've been working my way through the today's posts, starting with the oldest ones. So, on another thread, I asked about using the built in media buttons to control another player other than Windows Media Player.
Gryphon - in that post I asked specifically about your Smartflip. But, now that I read you have your Cingular 3125, I'd like to know the same thing on this phone. Can you get the outside buttons to control TCPMP for example?
hehe, see other post...
cingular changed it from a instant rebate to a mail in rebate
