(plugged in) I turn on the phone. dies before homescreen. then it says its charging right after power down.
(not plugged in) Turn on. dies before homescreen.

Have you tried a hard reset? It will erase everything on your phone, but will probably fix the issue. Directions to do this can be found here.

well it wont hard reset, i tired that and all that happened was soft reset

Did you get the message on the screen asking if you want to Master Reset? If you didn't get that message, the hard reset process wasn't done properly. Ensure you aren't plugged in to the charger when you try to do a hard reset.

I'm surprised anyone is still using one of those. That was my first "Smart" phone... I've had the SMT5600, Treo 700W and now the SCH i760 since.

i was using a newer smartphone but said why not go "new retro" with my old mpx and teach these little kids what a smartphone use to be. i use this cause its better for work than my old POS SDA. i am thinking of getting the touch for sprint. but yes the bat was not holding a charge to complete the full hard reset. haha but i have spare bats. thanks for the help though.
