QUOTE (Will Pinnell @ Oct 26 2006, 04:31 PM) *
My name is Will Pinnell and I am the Senior Director of Content at Handango. I visited Omnisoft's site myself yesterday and read the available thread between John and members of our team. I also spoke with him on the phone this afternoon.

I'd like to assure you that Handango does not discontinue partnerships without cause, nor did we come to this decision lightly. We treat all of our 16,000 global content providers with respect and professionalism. Without divulging specifics, our collective decision to not distribute Omnisoft's content was based on additional information not publicly shared.

As you might imagine, in working with thousands of companies, we occasionally have content providers unsatisfied with our level of service or the decisions we make. I do however, admire John Cody, his company, and his drive to make customers aware of his applications. Handango wishes him the best of luck with his business.

If this is your stance, I for one will not show patronage to your company any more, nor will I recommend it. Most of these titles are available elsewhere, and if not I will do without unless the author has another payment channel that is.

I got mine May 7th from Cingular... I'll have to try it. If it doesn't work, I'll be rather upset laugh.gif

I bought an ATT version a long time ago. The IMEI worked fine and now I have the clearview suite. Thanks for the heads up.

Seems to be a design flaw with the MPx220, as the cover for the battery on the back is quite flimsy and loose.

Today it seems like it came off while I was out, running in between meetings downtown.

Anyone know an easy way to get a replacement, cheap and fast?

(I think I'll put on some velcro or something next time.)

Cingular has a nice leather case out for it, much better then the Cachet model.

Also I had a holster for a month or so and I like it, untill it broke  mellow.gif .

I use a Cellet Horizontal pouch. It has a double belt clip reverse snap enclosure to prevent mishaps. The case uses a hidde magnetic fastener to close which has performed exceptionally. Perfect fit with very nice fit and finish overall I would reccomend it to anyone. You can check it out in this thread from HoFo. The pictures do not do the case justice, but they serve to indicate the form and features decently.

aadadams, do you know if I can place official Motorola firmware update on an unbranded one?Or if unbrended one has 1.3 firmware?

Thanks!
*

I have no idea. I can say that most of the 1.3 phones are presently or were Cingular branded at some point. Some people have reported being able to use the update on several phones and some have reported failures. I cannot say which will be the case in your situation.

aadadams, thanks for reply - another question, can somebody tell me - if Cingular phone always comes with a "cingular" below keyboard or also can come as "MPx220" on it (silver)? Since I see a lot photos on the sitest, where site tells Cingular, but have photo with MPx220 on it?

Thanks!

MPx220 is OEM. If it comes from Cingular it will have the branding. If you want OEM try www.cnn.cn.

GrYph0n, yes thanks for info - I guess I will be. The only other question - will then my phone become locked again or no?

Asked here about Amazon, because I simply can't find way to ask them? Can somebody suggest?

Thanks!

The update does not relock the phone. No one knows whether the phone will be locked. The only way to get an unlock one is by luck of the draw. The supply of unlocked ones is drying up fast. Florin offers a great unlocking service for about 40 bucks.

Has anyone found any bugs with this program?

I tried the program when it was 0.2 and again now that it is 0.3. On each version i only get selective text by far and away most text does not appear or is white on the white background. I had to look at the animated gif to figure out which setting was which. Any ideas on why this is the case?

MPx220 uses iTap not T9 and in order to make it learn you have to be in iTap mode. I just taught my phone the four letter word that starts with f as a test.

I thought Cingular cells weren't locked at all... I bought one but was using my ATT sim before the merger completed and it works fine for me... have you even tried using a Tmobile sim on it?
*

The policy was put in place after the merger, but if you have been a customer for 90 days they will unlock your phone as long as it was purchased from an authorized dealer.

Does anyone know the cheapest place online to get the mpx220 unlocked or is there anywhere where it would be done for free? The phone is a cingluar branded locked phone, but I cannot get it unlocked by cingular since I do not hold an account with them. Thanxs in advance!
*

If you know someone with an account with Cingular that has been with the company for over three months they can do it for you through email. It takes a day or two, but free works very well for me. BTW I have used imei-check.co.uk to unlock an SMT5600, and the service was fast and reliable. The protocol was painless as well.

I reviewed both eWallet and SplashID. I was not really impressed with SplashID, it seemed VERY unpoloshed. eWallet on the other hand is a rock-solid piece of software. The desktop/phone components work great together, and they offer wallet sync. I don't believe CodeWallet can do that.
*

My wallet is synchronized between my desktop and my phone while using Code Wallet Pro. I used the free trial of eWallet and of CodeWallet and to me it simply seemed that the CodeWallet was a bit more intuitive. This is of course personal preference based, so your mileage may vary. The best thing to do is to install the free trials and see for yourself. Both programs are top notch, and it comes down to your opinion.

QUOTE (bostonbear @ Jan 24 2005, 06:47 PM)
dry.gif

I have been using my mpx220 for about a week now.  To be honest, I miss my mpx200... I thought it was a better phone... but it didn't have 850MHz which was causing serious reception problems.  Bluetooth is a bonus, but the 850MHz is why I switched.

Anyway, I want to use the SIM1 lock to lock my SIM card.  On the mpx200, I just created my own 4 digit code and then any time I powered the phone up it would ask me for that code.  Since the SIM card was under the battery, this made it impossible to steal the SIM card.

I tried to do the same on my mpx220 but it appears the SIM1 lock has already been entered... no it wasn't me and I have no idea what the code is.  Thing is, I don't get prompted when I power up... so it must be some default code?!?!  It's a Cingular SIM card.  Anyone else ever encounter this?

As a side note... anyone know what SIM2 lock is used for?

Please please please don't respond with "Well, Cingular phones come locked... does anyone know if companies are selling unlock codes for mpx220s?"  This has NOTHING to do with that topic.

I'm talking about settings->security->enable SIM lock
*

SIM1=1111
SIM2=2222

If you get any errors STOP and contact Cingular.

Upon rebooting my HP/Compaq NW8000 with OEM BT the COM port default in AS goes back to COM 1. If I change this to COM 5 in connections settings before the initial sync I have met success. Your mileage may vary.
