You need http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync41.mspx if you have a WM5 device. To unlock read the http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/index.php?showforum=123. In the Tips and Tricks thread Omega explains how to unlock it for free.

sim unlock will do the trick??

i will try as soon as i get home...

SIM unlocking would allow you to use T-Mobile with it. Activesync 4.1 will allow you to connect to your PC. If you want to connect to data on T-Mobile you will have to manually enter the data settings or install the T-Mobile branding .cab file located in the T-Mobile forum here on the site.

1st off great forum.

I just acquired a cingular 2125.
Installed activesync 4 from the cd.

Now, my outlook won't connect to my email server anymore AND activesync won't connect to my phone using the usb cable.

I tried turning off zonealarm and norton, with no change.

I've been relentless searching... any ideas?

Activesync should have no effect at all on Outlook connecting to your mail server. It can take the messages from Outlook and put them on your phone, but shouldn't alter your email settings in Outlook at all. I can't really help you get it connected, I've never had a problem. I install Activesyn and plug my device in and it connects.

If windows firewall enabled try to configure the ports

thanks for the help.
I believe that the windows firewall was the issue, I turned it off and I am sync'd now.

I know that the cd with activesync comes with a version of Outlook, I think there is a chance that it may have become corrupt somehow. i am planning a repair with my office cd.

another question, regarding outlook, is there a way to limit the contacts that are sync'd?

thanks agian.

The SCH-i730 rndis or (RNDIS) driver that i needed was the
"Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter"
and i will attach the zip folder that you need to install it. all you have to do is to extract the folder to a location that you can remember and then when it asks you how you want to install the driver chose the "Advanced" option that lets you chose a location for the driver files and chose the folder that you just extracted. or you can find the driver under the device manager: start menu -> right click on My computer -> Properties -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager

from here just right click on the driver that you want to install the driver for and chose update driver and do the same thing as if it asked you what to do. chose the folder that you unzipped and away you go.

I am not sure this will work because i had to remove a update file so i can upload the file because you can only upload a 2MB file to this forum

 RNDIS.zip ( 669.89K ) : 999
