In short, yes. Just make sure you have activesync on the computer set up to connect to the internet.

oops. Sorry, but I just realized what you asked (I think)

You sync with a single desktop Outlook configuration. No Exchange Server involved. And you want to then be able to sync your phone with your computer over the air or through another connection, not requiring direct connection to the computer you want to sync with.

If that is what you are after, then the answer is no. In order to be able to sync over the air you must be syncing with an Exchange server using Exchange 2000 or above.

Then I think my first response was the right answer. You want to connect your phone via activesync to a computer that has internet access, and be able to access the internet from your phone while passing through the computer. Yes, that works.

Yes, you can. I use the passthru to install Java programs onto my phone (via IE), so I don't have to pay for GPRS.

Is your email account IMAP or POP3, is it yahoo!? If its yahoo you must subscribe to yahoo mail plus or be a SBC user. Once I have this info I can help or another forum member would help. biggrin.gif

Setting up outlook has 2 real options: sync or pop/imap access. If you want to sync with Outlook then you have to do it with Activesync directly connected to the computer. If you want to use pop or imap you set that up like any other mail client, giving it a pop and SMTP address, account and password, etc.

So what email are you trying to use?

You can't set up an email account with Hotmail or MSN email. You have to log onto www.mobile.msn.com on your phone and check it there by signing in. Email accounts have to be pop3 or imap.

Internet pass thru is only compatable with Windows Smartphone 2002 and Pocket PC 2002, if you go to the help section in ActiveSync 3.8 it will tell you that. I wasn't happy when I seen that, looks like the carriers problably wanted microsoft to disable that so we would be forced to use there internet service mad.gif

Hmm... how odd! I have all my connections set to automatic and I have no problems passing thru on USB or over bluetooth.

Which phone are you using, I saw that on the site and thought to myself, "Hey they should update the site." There has got to be a way around this.

If that was their intent, then they failed. It works fine on my MPx220 (running the 2003 SE version).

Really?? well thats what it says what it actually does can be another thing, if you did get it to work do you mind sharing how you did it, I am under impression that all you do is connect the cable or via bluetooth, sync and make sure undersettings that pass thru is set to open ActiveSync when my mobile device connects.

If you have any info that can help me out I would greatly apreciate it biggrin.gif

Maybe my understanding of pass thru is incorrect so plz correct me if i am wrong. Does pass thru let you use you computers internet connection to surf the web and check your mail on the phone instead of using the GPRS connection?

EDIT* Well I figured it out on my own lol, I went to Start, Settings, Data Connections and set everything to automatic. Did an ActiveSync connection via bluetooth and connected to a web site via pocket IE and voila! No G over the signal meter and it was connecting. yay!!! laugh.gif

I found that, if you disable proxy server then you can use the pass-through function of activsync.
