I wonder if PDANet will work on Vista. You could give the trial a download from here and see if it works on Vista. I have PDANet, and really think it was worth the purchase because of how much easier and more reliable it is than the Qdriver method.

Too bad they don't support WinXP x64 edition. mad.gif

Sorry to bring back a older post, but I too am eagerly awaiting the i930.

The pics posted in this thread are quite old.

Here are a couple pic's that I've seen that are more recent. May not represent the final build but look realistic considering the design of the current i860.
I'm sure it's possible that these could of been faked, but they look believable.

I don't think anything is for certain, but the last I heard was around Feb. '05.

This is the same phone I'm looking forward to getting.
I've got the MPX-200, but GSM service in my area is a joke.
I've left Nextel twice, and both times have regretted it.

Well, I don't know how to re-order the icon list, but as far as grouping them into folders, it's pretty much the same principle you'd use on a Windows computer.

Using the phones File Manager go to "IPSMWindowsStart Menu" and create any new folders you want and move the links to said folders.

Sometimes, you have to either wait a little bit, or just power cycle the phone for it to update.

whats the rush the phone will suck like the mpx200.
no antenna. I love the camera though laugh.gif

At first, your reply seems quite dis-heartening, and I didn't like it to much. tongue.gif

But it would not surprise me if the 220 was to be a another complete flop like the 200.
Say, maybe the mini-SD card slot cover spontaniously pops open, or the antenna starts to rattle around inside the case, or everytime you open the phone, it starts to play a really cool little sound bit, like :hal or what ever, but suddenly the sound dies with a unbelievably loud squeel and the keyboard pop's off and hang's from the phone as if it was sticking it's touge out at you. :silly: :thebigsqueeze:

So, I fear you may be right Gi-DreamS. sad.gif

Anyone happen to know if there are any web resource's or something that I can check with that would tell me if the 850MHz band would be an advantage in my area?

I like many of the "stated" features of the MPx220, but if the 850MHz band is not going to help me in my area, it won't be worth the cost.

Thanks for reading.

Uh... sad.gif where's the SD card slot.

Or what slot was that depicted in the vid/SWF that the SD card would not fit into? :|

I find it odd that this has dissappeared on your phone.
I thought it was one of the root system files, which can't be deleted.

But hey, wierder things have been known happen.

rps13sh, you probably just need to scroll to the very top of the list.

As stated by tas_mpx200, you can use the # 3 key to scroll to the top alot quicker than just holding the up key on the d-pad.

Just copy the number you want a custome ring tone for over to the SIM card.
Doesn't matter what name you use on the SIM card.

Unfortunatly, those of you with more than 250 numbers will have to pick and choose which numbers you want to have custome ring tones for, but I doubt you could fit that many different ring tones into the phones local memory anyway. wink.gif

I stumbed on a work around for this quite a while ago.

It's not perfect, but it acheives the contact specific ring tone option.

Depending on how many numbers you have in your contact list, you can copy the ones you want to have custom ring tones for to the SIM card.
Doesn't matter what name you use on the SIM card, the caller ID will still use the entry from your Contact's database.
This, for what ever odd reason, allows the custom ring tone function to work as well.

Only caviate, is that the SIM card is limited to 250 numbers.

It really doesn't make any sense, since supposedly, the caller ID look up for the contacts database is supposed to be too slow, but when you copy the number to the SIM card with generic name, it all of a sudden can look up those names and details lightning fast. :?

I've got the same graphic when my phone is charging in an off state.

I thought it was kinda' interesting, then my dad looked at and said that his doesn't have the fancy graphic.
He bought his direct from AT&T and it was the first phone they got in stock for retail sale, the other one they got in at the same time was for a demo unit.
I got mine off of Amazon shortly after.

I'm not sure where this graphic is located, probably built into the firmware.

Wow, those are very similar in design to the Cellio case reviewed.

I personally tend to prefere soft leather though.

My dad and I just picked up our Cellio cases today.
Very well made.
We checked them before purchase to verify that they fit snug, and both did.
The holes for the mic/speakers and buttons are very well placed.
I was also looking at several different ones. It seems that the build quality for the Cellio case is pretty consistant.

Well, I got mine fixed, and without doing a hard reset like the AT&T tech suggested.

Turns out, that by changing the registry entries under "[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftMAPI]" to look to and store my SMS/E-mail messeges on my SD card, the notification system was still looking in the local IPSM memory to see if any new messages where recieved.
Changing everything back to local memory has fixed my issue for now.

Now, I'm curious where the settings for telling the phone where to look to see if any new messages are available are.

Every retailer has a different policy.

But, a hard reset is hardly a threatening procedure for the phone itself.
Yes, you'll loose any programs and files that you may of put on it, but you can back those up before hand, or re-install them later.

Chances are, if you were to go back to the place of purchase, a hard reset is probably what they would do to try and remedy the problem anyway.

I'd first try contacting the place of purchase and talk to them about the problem. Describe the problem to them, and see if you can talk to some sort of technician. Tell them you know how to do a hard reset on the phone, but that you want to make sure doing so will not have a effect on any warrenty you may have with the retailer, or any return policy that the retailer has.

I honestly think you will be fine doing a hard reset yourself, but it doesn't hurt to check with the retailer first.

Good luck.

Have you taken' a look over at www.coolsmartphone.com?

They have a bunch of different home screen designs.

Unfortunatly, you have to register on the site just to see them, but they do have a few good ones.
Some are a bit to busy and loud for me.
Others are kinda' neat.

I don't know about "best".

But you can use the built in WinXP app Windows Movie Maker to format movies for play on your MPx200.

Once you have the movie the way you like it, or basically, just drag it into the timeline, select the option "Save to My Computer" and when you get to the encoding options screen select "Video for Pocket PC" or something like that basically you want the 143kbps option.
You may have to select veiw more choices before you can choose.

That is one way.

One disadvantage to the encoding this particular encoding process is that it is only 8 frames per second, so any fast action stuff may not be completely displayed.

My dad unlocked his MPx200 the other day, put the code in and everything worked quite smoothly.

Phone came up on T-Mobile's service.
But after a day or so, he noticed that he hasn't recieved any calls on it. He can make calls fine, but when ever someone try's to call him, the caller hears ringing, but the MPx200 itself doesn't ring. :?

We've noticed that the roaming indicator is on constantly, even though we are in a obvious home area. (Used to be on T-Mobile with different phones.)

Is there something that we missed that needs to be done after unlocking the phone when it's to be used on T-Mobile's service?

Thanks for reading.

Like it was stated previously, the USB connection on the MPx200 is based on the 1.0 standard.
The USB 1.0 and 1.1 standard transfer data at 12 Mb's per second.

For reference, a cable modem for Internet is usually around 1.5 Mb's per second.
USB 2.0, which I'm surprised they didn't use, transfers at upwards of 400 Mb's per second, much like the first iEEE 1394 standard.

SD card readers are actually really cheap. My dad bought a multi-card reader for around $20 to $30 and it uses the USB 2.0 standard, so transfer rates are much better for transfering large files.

One thing to keep in mind is that when storing your ring tones on the SD card, you will not be able to use them as contact specific ring tones, for what ever wierd reason.
Only ring tones stored in the IPSMSounds directory can be used as contact specific ring tones unfortunatly.

I imagine there probably is a way around this, but I haven't heard of it yet.

I understand your point of view Smitty.

Personally, I thought it would be kinda' neat if I could ever figure out how to have the phone's LCD backlight stay one when it's connected to a charger so that I could have the phone in it's cradle open and the screensaver going while I wasn't using it.

Uh, yes it would rock, for those of use who don't feel like spending $Texas to connect to the friggin internet.

Exactly.

Personally, my primary use of the internet is still going to be on my laptop and desktop PC.
But it would be nice to be able to use the internet on my phone every now and then for things like checking the weather or getting directions without a $0.03 per kb bill!
And the 1MB plan is a joke, with IE's inefficient use of cache.
