QUOTE (omega2008 @ Jun 21 2005, 12:18 PM) 1.430 Is the best Cingular branded ROM so far......If you want even better then you should try out the Asian ROM...you have to do some tweaking to get it to feel and work like you want it to but its nothing hard to do. If you want some help one flashing your phone you can go my Blog.I found the surrealnetworks site...and got the Cingular 1.43 ROM with the offline file updater...but I'd like to see if I can get the Motorola Online Software Update Utility. I assume it downloads the ROM Updates directly from motorola... Anywhere I can grab that? |

QUOTE (qodfathr @ Jun 21 2005, 11:42 AM) Most of my problems went away with the ROM update. But as for the connectivity issues, that is a Cingular problem AND IT IS FIXABLE. We know this to be true, for many of us had the same problem and it simply went away (not with a ROM update). Read this topic for the story -- you'll see people posting about the same problem, and then, slowly, it going away in various regions. The only real way to know if you have a real problem is to go to one of the areas which people have reported as working, and see if you have long-lasting internet connectivity there. If you do, then you simply need to wait for Cingular to upgrade your local network. If you really want to be heard at Cingular, contact this guy: Mark Siegel, Executive Director Media Relations. His office number is 404-236-6312. You can also e-mail him at mark.a.siegel@cingular.com. It's his job to make sure that customers are happy and are being heard when the voice legitimate complaints. Thanks for the tips...though that issue you linked to is not the same issue I'm fairly sure. Our issue is losing total connectivity to the cingular network. The little signal meter on the phone reads no service though I can still receive text messages and calls come through but I can't make out what they are saying. We're gonna try upgrading to 1.3 or 1.43 and if that doesn't work we're gonna get in contact with Mark Siegel. |

Ok here's the situation. Both my father and I have Mpx220's on Cingular.
My Manufacturer Version: 1.30 My Father's Manufacturer Version: 0.325
He's had his phone replaced twice for various issues and this is what he has been given. This is the worst yet so we are looking for an alternative way to get help since Cingular isn't helping at all.
His problems: -Low Volume (people can't hear him very well...he can hear them fine) -The phone seems to turn off by itself. -He loses connection to the Cingular network after the phone has been on for a couple days.
My experience with the phone has been almost flawless. The only problem I have had with mine is the final issue I listed for my dad. Basically we were told by a Cingular Rep that this is an issue that Motorola Phones have with the Cingular Network, a problem that will not be fixed. So we are suppoed to reboot our phones every couple days. This just doesn't seem right to me.
My dad has almost reached the point where he is just going to toss the phone...cancel his account...and find another phone on a different carrier. I'd like to keep him from doing this for the sole reason that right now he pays for both of our phones since I am on his family plan.
Could this be as simple as changing the rom version in his phone? I'm hoping it is...
Suggestions? |

A while back, before my dad and I got our mpx220's, I saw some posts somewhere (may have been before the site switched to the new design) about best buy carrying two different versions after the original that was released. When we received our phones we got orange dot phones.
Now for our problems: On my dad's phone he's had 2 issues: 1) occasionally he will lose signal in areas where he knows he should be getting good signal. When he turns off the phone and starts it back up, the signal comes back and he can use it fine. 2) He has also had problems where he will receive or place a call and will not be able to talk to the person on the other end even though he can hear them (they hear nothing at all).
He just called today and he is getting a replacement phone sent to him. Apparently there is an updated firmware version available. He currently has firmware 1.3.
My phone has only had the loss of signal issue that my dad's phone also had. I have firmware 1.3 as well.
Was the black dot version of the phone released after the orange dot version that we received? If so, what are the differences?
Also, has anyone heard of the issue I'm having with my phone? |

QUOTE (firemanrob @ Jan 29 2005, 08:19 PM) I made a custom xml homescreen for my MPx200 and saved it in the "windows" folder. I can select it and it works fine, but when I turn my phone off and on, the file file disapears. Is there a way to save it so it won't disapear whenever my phone turns off and on? copy it to "IPSM\Application Data\Home" and it won't get deleted automatically when you reboot the phone. Anything that is manually added to the windows folder will be cleared if you do a reboot of the phone...stuff in the path above will not get deleted unless you do a master reset of the phone. (or if you delete it yourself) For those with Mpx220's (and I assume any Windows Mobile 2003 SE phone) the correct path would be "Storage\Application Data\Home" |

QUOTE (florin_m @ Apr 13 2004, 08:52 AM) I updated my site with a note to the customers about posible delays cause of yahoo or hotmail. Most of our customers don't use the Yahoo or hotmail, that why i didn't state from beging about this problem. Till now only 3 customers (that include you 2) complained about the delay, so u see why i didn't state it cause i was thinking was a rare case Thanks for your understanding. Best regards, Florin Mandache I noticed these updates when I tried out your service today...but one thing....I HAVEN'T GOTTEN MY EMAIL YET AND IT'S BEEN SEVERAL HOURS!!!! oh wait...that's because I was able to login to the site with my email and IMEI and get the code quicker than I would have gotten it if I checked my email immediately... (I haven't even checked my email yet ) I'm extremely pleased with the service offered... Both my Dad and I got our new Mpx220's and we are going to be selling our mpx200's on Ebay...an unlocked phone looks a bit more attractive than a locked phone on ebays these days. Used this service to unlock my dad's (unlocked mine originally when I got the phone over a year ago). |

16 invites to give out...and they usually refresh within a couple of days of using one up.
I'd suggest sending pm's (send a pm to the one you want to get an invite from) instead of posting your email here. You're likely to get spammed after posting it here. I'm not saying that anyone who posts on these forums will spam your email...just saying that there are bots out there that collect emails from forums like these. |

The only version of the Mpx line that was made without a camera was the original mpx200. The mpx and mpx220 are considered upgrades from the mpx200 which is why they include things like the camera and bluetooth.
Considering the popularity of camera phones I doubt we'll see a version of them without cameras.. |

Just ordered 2 of these cards for my Dad and I, as we just ordered our new Mpx220's today. Couldn't get them for $48 each but $53 each isn't half bad. |

Recently I was out to Sioux Falls, SD for my Christmas vacation (most of my family lives there). My Mpx200 was roaming on T-Mobile's system the whole time I was there. My Dad, my grandma, and myself are thinking about switching to a Cingular Family Talk plan since none of us really talk all that much on our phones (My dad and I have mpx200's on AT&T right now, my grandma has some LG phone on Verizon). We tried to find a Cingular or AT&T Wireless store in Sioux Falls but found out there are none. Since Sioux Falls is a fairly large city for that region of the country we figured they would have coverage.
After realising that they do not have coverage under thier name...we became curious...we tried to look up a T-mobile store in Sioux Falls since that's the only carrier that our phones connected to the whole time we were there (we had excellent coverage with T-Mobile though), but we found there were also no T-Mobile stores. This seemed really strange since they seem to have T-Mobile coverage there. Looking at the coverage map available here, shows they do have coverage in that area.
Did Cingular or AT&T sell off there coverage area in Sioux Falls to T-Mobile? Has T-Mobile just not gotten any retail locations started in their new coverage area?
It seems weird that Cingular/AT&T would choose not to be part of a fast growing area such as Sioux Falls.
The companies we did see out there were Verizon (which my grandma is currently with), Cellular One, Sprint, and Nextel.
Anyone have any idea what's going on with those three companies in that area? (T-Mobile, Cingular, AT&T) |

QUOTE I have not seen any instances where an Editor reports on WM 2K3 as a haha I have it and you don't. Neither have I...and I never said they did this I know the reason we do not have it is because of AT&T...I just want them to a bit more sensitive about it...that's all I'm asking...right now the only thing reporting on new features and stuff in WM2003 does is fuel my anger towards AT&T...unfortunately since they are posting this news...some of that anger gets directed towards the messenger in the form of this post... |

I have a request of this site. Though I'm betting it will not happen.
Not everyone here is as lucky as the people who run this site in that you can get to the MDC's to take advantage of the ROM Flashing they do there. I would like to request that you guys lay off on the talk about WM2003 & WM2003se on the Mpx200's...since we're still stuck with Smartphone 2002.
The news I have been seeing lately is getting me more and more pissed off about this site. I don't want to see news about something that only a handful of the site's users have access to. I ask that you try to honor this request...I'm sure there are more people than just me who are frustrated when we see news about WM2003 and se...
I know this is a news site and this stuff is part of the news...I just ask that you guys be more sensitive to your users who aren't so fortunate. |

QUOTE I love it how customer service can't "service" the customer. They do something - but it isnt "service". Ever seen one of George Carlin's skits...He talks about "Customer Service"...it's hilarious...and your quote matches it quite well |

QUOTE I received my phone 5 days ago and I have called ATT and they have no idea of who I am nor has my phone number been assigned. I was asked to call Amazon to see if I can clear up what happened. I fully plan on canceling and putting in my tmobile SIM. My question is should I get this all resolved so I can cancel or leave well enough alone as it appears they do not know who I am. As of now 5 days after my email from Amazon with my number I still do not have service. I would say that is a screw up on Amazon's part...if you have a number your phone should be active with AT&T...if it's not then, yes, it is time to call up Amazon and find out what's going on. I had noticed my phone had activated after coming out of a meeting...and I immediately checked my amazon account and my home email to find I had received my number. I immediately called up AT&T and had it cancelled...(which now I regret since I am back with AT&T, ah well) |

QUOTE well, just because the retailers in your area havent seen the phone since it came out,,doesnt mean they arnt working on a update! I dont know what area you are in, but i am in burbs of chicago, and almost every retailer got couple of these phones... I'm just on the west side of O'hare and did quite a bit of searching around the area... I only found one AT&T store that didn't have mpx200's when I got mine...they said they were a Class C store I believe...and would not receive any of the new phones for some time...smaller store = less business = newer stuff at a later time... |

When I first got my mpx I tried the jog dial a couple of times...didn't work well for me so I just got used to living without it...
why motorola decided to do away with the three button design they used on so many of their other phones I do not know...the person that thought up the idea should be shot. |

The only time I was using an additional phone was during the porting process...I was carrying my mpx200 and my nokia 8265 around with me so I could make and receive calls...retired the 8265...and now I've retired my palm m505...I used to carry my 8265 and my palm but now that I have the mpx200 it has considerably lightened my load... |

I live in Itasca just West of Ohare (I live right by the village hall)...and Work in Niles...just to the Northeast of Ohare...The only place I really have problems with signal are right around my apartment and in the center of my building at work...
It seems that the area around the village hall in Itasca is a dead zone for GSM cell phones because T-Mobile's service was even worse than AT&T...at least with AT&T I can make and receive calls...
As for my building at work...most cell phones don't work in that center portion so I guess it's just the building...other than that area in the building my reception is good to great...
The only area I've had dropped calls is in and around my apartment...
the area around Ohare is pretty good for cell coverage...my commute changes sides based traffic congestion... |

ah...very good info to have..
I might make it my policy to email them every time I have to wait on hold for more than 30 minutes...
non-user upgradeable huh?
I'm betting they'll just ship you a new phone or something... |
