Greetings All cool.gif

When I had my Blackberry I could get email sent directly sent to my Blackberry using Blackberry's Internet service.

I would like to do that with my new Q ..... can it be done. Verizon gave me an address of phone#@3gvzw.com but that did not work.

Can you help and Thank You, smile.gif

What email do you use? If it is a POP account you can set up Messaging to access it. With VZW you also have the option of using Wireless Sync to setup your email. I'd read through the manual a little and see which method you want to use.

Greetings, smile.gif

In South Florida we have a great traffic reporting service that will send route information to an email address.

A feature that is available with the Blackberry which allows emails to be sent directly to the phone via the vzw.blackberry.com site.

Verizon does not provide such a feature. So I asked them for an email address for the Q and they gave me phone#@3gzw.com. This didn't work.

Right now I have solved the problem by using my POP account. This solution works ok but I still think the phone should have an email address. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that all providers are pushing TEXT messaging.

Thanks Much,

Cingular's is your 10 digit number + @cingularme.com

- and -

Tmo's is your 10 digit number + @tmomail.net

So, I'm wondering why yours didn't work? Could it be you were just given the wrong info about what to put in after the @ sign? Did you remember to put in your area code to use 10 digits instead of seven for your phone number part?

I think the easiest method of doing this would be to use an existing POP or IMAP email account you already have, and just set it up in your Messaging to use that account. If you don't already have one, Gmail is free and will do the job. Using POP will only allow you to manually check your email, or have the device automatically check at intervals up to 15 minutes.

It's not like BB where any email account can be automatically pulled. If you want your device to automatically get email when they are available you'd need to get an Exchange server setup on your phone. mail2web offers this service for free, so you could set up an account with them, set up the Exchange server on your phone, then have the traffic alerts sent to this account. Then whenever a new one was sent it would arrive at your phone instantly.
