This site http://www.ipaqrepair.co.uk/ipaq_repair.php has a number of repair guides for IPAQs. One of the battery replacement guides may give you a decent idea on how to disassemble yours. The guides include nice photos and are in pdf format - free to download. Good Luck.

Thanks Abatis,

I looked at their materials last night but id doesn't quite work with the hw6500/6900 case. This thing is extremely well put together, with no real concept that anyone would want to take it apart without destructive force.

I've scoured the web looking for repair information, to no avail... guess I'll have to wait 'till monday and try to get a tech on the phone to walk me through the process.

Thanks again... anyone else have ideas???

I hope someone can help...

I just got a new(ish) HW6925 with a cracked LCD, purchased a new replacement screen and can't seem to get the device apart.

I did remove the four torx screws from the back of the case, but I can't seem to find any others holding it together.

Can anyone either give instructions or point me to a site with them???

Thanks all

Thanks for the help, I didn't think the PUK was what I was looking for. I'll call again today and see if I can pry out the SIM unlock code.

I'll post the results.

dry.gif Perhaps someone can help. I called Customer care (via 611) and asked for my unlock code. They gave me a 10 digit numerical code and said that was the PUK unlock code. Is this really the phone/carrier unlock code, and if so, how do I use it?

By the way, I was told that the current policy of Cingular is that you own the phone and if asked, they will provide the unlock code.

Thanks for the help

QUOTE (Slacker @ Feb 7 2005, 12:55 PM)
With the phone connected and ActiveSync showing you connected, open MY COMPUTER on your system. You should see an item for MOBILE DEVICE. Open that and you will see MY SMARTPHONE. Open that and you should see STORAGE. Open that and you will see the MY DOCUMENTS folder. That folder exists by default.

That's where you put your maps. Or you might see if Pocket Streets will let you put the maps on your SD or MiniSD card.

You need to create a My Documents folder on the Storage card (SD-Mini SD) and then you can put the program and data there... works like a charm. biggrin.gif

I posted this under ATT, but ... my daughter had a simular problem with ATT/CIN CS in getting a replacement for her 3 week old phone. She was told no ATT phones were available and that she would have to migrate to get a phone that would work.

She said if she migrated she would lose her promotional minutes (about 600 now) and they said, yes, you will... too bad and hung up.

She then tried to call again and had the same response.

I agree, but unfortunately, ATT/Cin CS doesn't. I shipped her my MPX 200 to use while she waits for Moto to ship her a new/exchange phone.

ATT/Cin CS told her, in effect, tough luck, and I'm fuming. Looking at the ATT forums, it appears that this is company policy (I was told the same thing in and ex ATT company store today).

We all extended our contracts for two years to preserve our bonus minutes, AND got new phones. I agree that Cingular will cause, one way or another, everyone to migrate to their system, although I think it would be easier to merge the systems (as it appears that they did with their accounting systems).

Bottom line, there is a level of support necessary to fulfill the contracts, from the carriers' side, and it appears that they are trying to circumvent that support. There can be no complaints regarding breach of contract if you have a new contract.

Cingular's advertising says effectively, that a customer need make no changes unless the customer wants roll over minutes... that is proving to not be the case.

Anyone have a problem getting a replacement phone for use on the ATT network, under contract, from ATT/Cin?

My daughter just extended her contract for two years, is having a problem with her phone and called CS. They told her no more ATT phones, that she would have to migrate and lose her promotional minutes.

It feels like a breach of contract AND false advertising to me... any comments?

Have you tried to call ATT CS (if it still exists). Cin has stated that nothing will change with ATT service... perhaps a bit of false advertising? Question: Does Cin's failure to provide replacement phones and full support constitute a breach of contract? There were supposed to be NO changes unless a customer elected to migrate to Cingular, at least for the term of the customers contract.

Sounds like Cin is crossing the line and opening themselves up for some problems.

The problem is that you're trying to apply logic to an illogical att/cin world.

I agree, they, at some point, will do whatever they have to to get everyone onto the Cingular system. It's too expensive to operate two complete and seperate systems when one can be used.

I think you may be in for a unpleasant suprise from Amazon and/or ATT. They are subsidizing the price for your contract ie. they are lowering the price of the phone for your promise to use their service, you break your promise, they don't have to keep theirs (lower price)

Be realistic, they are in business and don't give products away, or allow false discounts. The MIR for $200 is a Amazon deal, because they would receive a cash stream from your contract (that they originated). There is no free ride.

Trying to talk to CC now, but after being dropped twice while on hold, who knows, the do see that 250 lifetime anytime minutes are missing, but don't know why. going to a supervisor. Also, credit for upgrade/contract extenstion isn't there (lowered price of SMT 5600), so I'm now being charged full pop.

I am one unhappy customer, perhaps it's time for class action litigation... david v goliath

Check you billing with AWS seems they are reducing "lifetime" anytime minutes without notice. Been on the phone with them trying to resolve this issue.

I know, It's Cingular now, but a contract is a contract, and lifetime means lifetime.

Am I mistaken in thinking that, on the assumption that the SMT 5600 is locked, it is locked to AWS, and if that is the case, the sim should just drop in and work. It did when I switched from the MPX200 to the 5600, and either phone works now on aws

I have a bit of a problem with the battery life on my SMT 5600... I'm getting about 1.5 days, with <2 hours of talk time. Does this sound like a problem phone or battery, or is this the expected life of a charge?
