So i switched from cingular 2125 to Tmob SDA much better love the wifi function.

Before on my smt 5600 i use to drag and drop .MPG or MPEG files in to the explorer window and and it would automatically convert it over to .WMV and played fine. With the SDA when i do that it states it cannot play.

So i used a tool i found on this site called Iamtoo encoder.. and coverted mpg to wmv, it plays sounds fine but the videos is off. the video skips. i tried messing with the video settings like enarlge video etc.. but it still skips.

Can anyone recomeeend anythign plzzz...

Also i had put a new 1 gig kingston card Transfer Rate** — 4.5 - 7.85 MB/sec read rate

and was playing the video of that...

I recommend giving WMV the boot and converting to AVI. There are lots of different converters for AVI, many of which include a profile for the Smartphone. You can play them with TCPMP. The files are smaller and much better quality than WMV, and TCPMP is a much better player than WMP for videos.

If you type TCPMP into Google, the top result is the page for TCPMP, which appears to be down right now. You can also download it on this page. Just make sure you get the appropriate Smartphone files (cab if you want to copy it to the phone, Activesync if you want to install it from your PC. There are tons of AVI converters depending on what you're looking for. One of them, CloneDVD Mobile, was reviewed by our own abatis.

The TCPMP site is back up. It has guides and encoder programs there. I think PocketDivxEncoder is probably the easiest to use for someone without encoding experience.

What format is the video? Did you re-encode it to Smartphone size and bitrate? If you just copied a video meant to be played on a PC the Smartphones processor won't be able to handle it, and it will skip. I encode videos for a Smartphone to 220x176 pixels (or 320x240 for a QVGA device like the 2125), and the video encoded to about 200kbps or so. If the quality is to high it won't play.

Like I said, I encode to around 200-256kbps for video.
