I was shaky on clicking on this topic, but hopefully no wifi problems with this beauty.

The unit is so much smaller compared to my older toshiba e800.....

I know what you mean - I see reports on all of the forums of people having problems...

To add my story, I've successfully conntected my 6315 to my Belkin 54g router, where the SSID is not being broadcasted, MAC filter turned on, and 128-bit WEP is enabled. The kicker for me in this set up was that you have to make sure the network card in the Wi-Fi setting of the iPAQ is set to connect to "The Internet" and not "Work." Having the "Work" setting was something I was used to seeing on my other wi-fi enabled PPCs but it didn't work in this case resulting in GPRS trying to kick in, until I switched it over to "The Internet."

Sweet, hopefully battery life is good unlike the mpx200 that the generic rom is probably making the battery die ultra fast......

You know when my MPx200 was flashed, my battery actually lasted longer - there's something wrong about that...

Anyway, back on topic - I've been using a good combination of BT, WiFi, and of course GSM/GPRS for the last 14 hours and my battery is only down to 73%.

That's just awesome, 14 hours only down to 70%!! I can't wait until it arrives in the mail next week!

That 3600mah battery might not be needed, and plus it adds bulk to the back I believe, like a buldge.

I have had 2 successes and one failure on the Wi-Fi arena. Successfully connected to:

Home network running a Microsoft 802.11G router.
The in-laws running a Netgear 802.11G router.

Unsuccessful was connecting to the work network (I also could not connect with the Toshiba e805 by the way) which is running mostly Linksys access points.

Tested with three wireless router
neighbor # 1 using Gemtek wireless AP -connected successfully
neighbor # 2 using Netgear AP -connected successfully

at home using Linksys WAP54G - can't connect, tried all possible router configuartion it can see the router but it won't connect

any one else is having problem connecting h6315 to linksys WAP?

I've heard one contributing solution to those w/Linksys routers - make sure the router firmware is up to date.

Yes the firmware is up to date v2.7

Hmm... This causes concern. I am just short of walking out of a store with one of these things. Problem I have with this, is that I am running an 802.11g Linksys wireless router. I just spent a little $$ on it about a month ago, and I don't think I will be able to explaing to the wife why I will need yet a third router. If there are any solutions to this one, let us know...

My 6315 connects flawlessly with my Linksys 802.11g Wireless router here at the house...

Mines connect amazingly to the Microsoft MN500 router <---------OWNAGE, never a problem.

Wished it had a built in 802.11g on that h6315, maybe a h6360 model will have it or something.

For those of you with the new T-Mo plan that have unlimited hotspots, etc..

I found out recently that when you try to log in and it asks for your "User Name" it does not want the username you set up with your T-Mo account.. it wants your mobile number. And again, whrn it asks for your "Ppassword" ..well it does not want the password you established with T-Mo for your account.. it wants the last 4 of your SSN.

I had to call HotSpots customer service 3 times to get the right answer. I got a different answer each time and the 3rd time it worked.

I had suggested to them that they consider changing their login to ask for "Mobile NUmber" and "Last 4 SSN" ..but they were like, "Yeah, whatever." So, I imagine it won't change.

Anyhow, I thought I'd pas this on to thoe of you that might findyourself near a Starbucks sometime :wink:

FYI, the Wi-Fi connection through HotSpots is MUCH faster than the GPRS connection.

There are tons of open wifi access points, why bother with extra $19.99 month for hotspots.

It comes "free" ..included in their "mail minutes & more" plan. Unlimited T-Mo hotspots, which includes all Starbucks locations.

My company specializes in installing wireless internet systems in Thailand. We have installed about 70 Linksys WAP54G units in one building (4 per floor). The system works fine with laptops, but with the iPAQ 6315 it seems hit and miss. Some APs work, others do not. The unit almost always seems to receive an IP address, but can only ping the gateway some times. The General Manager of the building and I both have units, and both have the same problem. His used to work fine at all points, but then stopped working on many APs. Have tried with firmware upgraded, and without, restarting AP, soft resetting device, fixing IP, and nothing works. The APs are connected to Cisco 2950 switches, which run to a core Cisco 3550 and then to a Cisco BBSM and finally out to a Cisco 1721 Router. Any help would be very much appreciated :?

I think that it is a hardware problem in the individual PDA's myself. I had one a couple of months ago that would occasionally connect to my homa AP, and would usually connect to my work AP. I had to trade it for another unit because the speaker on the backside went out. Now the one I have started out connecting to my home and work AP's most of the time, but now it won't connect to any AP anywhere! It always sees them and with 3rd party software, it can display all the information I ever wanted to know about the AP's in range, but it just can't connect to them. I use GPRS most of the time, but I would sure like to have the Wi-Fi working! It would be handy at home with remote-controller programs. I may be in for another trade in warranty.

Have you tried a hard reset just to make sure that it is hardware and not a glitch in the software? Prob won't fix it, but what's it hurt to try?
