I recently took my phone out of my purse and the screen had a list up on it and the first item on the list was navigation - before I could think, I cleared it but havent been able to find it again. Does anyone know if the phone has built-in or optional downloadable GPS navigation capability.

Not that I know of. If it did then Google Maps should have been able to detect it.

If you really want a program that will at least give you directions, download Windows Live Search for smartphones. It can look up traffic reports, businesses, and display directions.
