The safe way to use your cell phone in a moving vehicle is hands-free. Bluetooth technology has emerged as a preferred hands-free approach in automobiles. There are several ways to use your phone hands-free including a Bluetooth headset, a newer car factory equipped with Bluetooth, or a Bluetooth car kit. We are reviewing the new South-Wing SC310 Bluetooth car kit from WirelessGround.com in this review.

The SC310 combines great design and ease of use. Just plug it into your car’s cigarette lighter socket and it will automatically connect to the phone. Its adjustable arm makes it fit in any car. This is the first car kit with a favorite number button; Push4™, which allows storing your favorite number for direct dialing. Other call features include voice dialing, last number redial and transfer call to phone. Full duplex and DSP technology cancels echo and reduces background noise, delivering a natural and clear sound to conversations.

The SC310 is compatible with all Bluetooth phones.
Key features:
• Adjustable arm for perfect fit
• Full duplex and DSP
• Push4™ favorite number button

Let’s get started, the first order of business is to pair the SC310 with a Bluetooth cell phone. The SC310 Bluetooth kit comes with a nice manual that walks you through the pairing process. Remember this kit is installation free. You just plug it into a cigarette outlet, press the black tensioner into the socket, adjust the boom and you are ready to talk hands free. The SC310 will pair with up to three devices. For this test we paired the device with a Cingular 3125, a Samsung Blade and a Verizon i730. Pairing is as easy as holding the power on button (#2) down for several seconds and entering “0000” on your phone.

Voice Command
The SC310 was tested with both Voice Tags and Voice Signal (voice recognition) system. Either voice method worked fine. The majority of our two week test period was used with the Cingular 3125 and Voice Tags.

Placement in your Vehicle

The installation free Bluetooth SC310 kit was place in three different vehicles to test placement ease and adjustment flexibility. Here we see the WirelessGround SC310 place in a Ford Expedition. The Expedition features several cigarette plug option and the front panel outlets work fine as shown in this photo.

The second plug-in is a Porsche Carrera 4. Once again a straight in dash mount. Sorry about those vents, they need a little swabbing.

The final install is in a Ford Freestyle. This is a commuter vehicle and was used as the primary test vehicle.

Turning On the Unit

The SC310 has large buttons that it make it easy to turn-on, pick-up a call, Voice Dial and the exclusive “Push4” button. You can program the Push4 button to dial your favorite number or voicemail. This is a convenient feature.

The SC310 has subtle but effective back-lighting for night driving.

Voice/Speaker Quality

The volume controls are easy to access and change while driving. Speaker volume is good and can be heard over road noise both during normal street driving and highway speeds. Microphone function is also good. During our testing callers were asked how strong and clear the voice reception was on their end. Overall the feedback was positive with very few skips and no dropped calls.

Overall Impression

The SC310 from WirelessGround.com is a solid hands free Bluetooth choice for your vehicle. It has simple, easy controls and the speaker and microphone provide quality sound. Features include easily moving from one vehicle to another. This unit will work well in a rental car and can be packed in a brief case or luggage. Many states and local ordinances require hands-free cell use in a moving automobile. No need for a pesky ear bud with this unit. Installation is simple – plug the SC310 into your cigarette lighter socket and adjust the boom. It will pair with any Bluetooth equipped phone. The unit is priced at $49.99 and that is a bargain for the quality and convenience of the unit. You can find the SC310 Hands Free Bluetooth Car Kit at WirelessGround.com.
